A Question On MMR

So recently I got my internet fixed (for what I hope is permanently) and I have been grinding some ranked, and so far I've been doing surprisingly well. ( https://gyazo.com/e90d22e72f9167bf382bf39b7670335c ) Several websites state that my MMR skill level is silver 5 /4 ish.

My dilema at current is that back before I fixed my internet, I had made numerous attempts at climbing (All failed miserably as I demoted myself quite a deep into bronze), and those attempts had stacked up a ton off losses in a row, until at some point or another I managed to achieve a 7% win rate, with like 22 ranked matches played, yes I know that is utter shit, bottom barrel bronze type of noobery.

Well ever since I have managed to fix my internet, I have noticed myself performing incredibly well, compared to the crap I was lag spiking every few minutes. I've managed to get my win rate to 25% with a what I believe to be an unbroken win streak. I've also gotten very, very good kda's those games, and I thought that my performance would eventually undo my massive ranked losses, to the point where I could begin to skip leagues (Bronze 3 ---> Bronze 1, etc), however one of my friends has informed me that I would need to undo all my losses to get above a 50% winrate to really start climbing. Obviously this was very disappointing to me, and I would like to know for sure how my win-loss ratio affects my MMR and how my MMR affects my League placement and my LP loss and gain. Thanks in advance to anyone who took the time to read all of this and respond. <3

All that matters is your MMR, which goes up when you win and down when you lose. You can get a rough feel for how your mmr compares to your league based on your LP gains/losses, where if your gains=losses (probably around +20/-20 or so), your MMR is approximately 'right' for your division. If you're gaining like 30+ LP per win, then you're in the territory where your mmr is divisions above your current rank and there might be hope for division skipping, but skipping is pretty rare.

It can take a lot of work to undue the damage done to your mmr if you really were abysmal for a long period, but I'm pretty sure mmr changes get increasingly more significant as your go on big streaks and the system trys to adapt by putting you against increasingly difficult (read: high mmr) opponents, where you'll gain even more mmr for your wins. Just keep at it, and eventually your LP gains will level out and you'll start climbing ranks much quicker.

edit: Relatedly, your rank (and everyone elses), is purely cosmetic and has no impact on anything except end of season rewards. Only mmr influences matchmaking, so every win you climb a little (since your mmr is slightly better), and every lose you fall a little (since your mmr is slightly worse), and whether or not one gets promoted or demoted is unrelated. It's possible to have pretty large mismatches in MMR and displayed rank at times if people jump through hoops to avoid promotion/demotion.

No, you don't need to undo those losses. As long as you are winning more than you're losing, you will climb.

Unfortunately you have already completely fucked your MMR. Your w/r will need to be like 60 percent for you to climb at all

If you want I could play with you, I know it's not fair for you to be stuck in Bronze due to your internet or router, and I have spare accounts I smurf/play on.

You can still climb w/o having to have an overall 50% or higher win rate. However, 50%+ win rate in the short term if actually what can make you climb.

Brute force games with no skill champs, OP champs, some minor wave manipulation, and some minor teamwork. Yes, even with all this you can still lose sine it is low elo. And you will lose a lot of "won" games as low elo NA loves to lose, but so long as you keep your win rate good for the most recent matches you will keep getting into promos.

And pray to Nakagaborous you don't get rage quitters and tilters (since you got a overall bad win rate, you might get stuck with a decent amount of them, so train yourself on anti-tilt). Laughing at your mistakes and other people's mistakes is a great anti tilt strategy. And make sure to learn from them too.

And don't worry if you a Bronze, Silver is pretty much more or less of the same XD. So you got to look forward to it since what you learn in the deepest parts of bronze will aid you in Silver.

It only stops counting the past win/loss ratio at the start of a new season. You just have to work on your wins, your losses will always be there till the next season, but you can out scale them if you truly deserve a higher rank.

Lets just say you are not going to be skipping any ranks. your mmr is normal B4, so you can still easily climb, but its not going to get high enough for you to skip ranks unless you win, lets say, 20+ in a row.
