I have only played 2 games with him but I have done very well in both games. He has high dmg and tank. Great cc and teamfights. Think i found my freelo

Oh yeah and he has a really good win rate

He is extremely strong, his base stats are really where he derives a lot of his power. Even with building no pure tank items, amumu tends to still be extremely tanky into the mid game.

Amumu has been OP since release.

Amumu is very powerful, but only if you play him intelligently. He's one of those champion's whose ult can completely decide a teamfight if used skillfully.

Btw, if you want some advice from another Amumu player, Rylai's is something I personally find ridiculously powerful on him but I don't see other players using it that often. It gives him health and makes his W impossible to escape from without a dash or some hard CC. And even if they escape, you can usually bandage straight back to them.
