Hey Riot, why is support such a bad role?

How many times have you been told that support is the worst role to play in the game? You obviously have people that enjoy it in it's current state, but you can't deny the fact that the majority of your player base hates it. Playing it is boring, you don't feel as useful as playing a damage champion, why do you think we see Brand, Zyra, Malzahar, Vel'koz etc. so often played as support when they were made to be mid laners? Because at least they are fun to play. Honestly the only reason people play it is because the game is shaped around having a support, but why force your players to play a boring part of the game? Is your goal not to make the gaming experience enjoyable for all? You've even gone ahead and implemented the auto-fill system because no one wants to play support and so queue times would be long without it, you are clearly aware of the problem so why are you not fixing it?

Support roles tend to be underappreciated in most games.

Many players just want to be the carry and undervalue utility.

The main issue is the playerbase's mentality regarding the role rather than the role itself.

Wrong wrong, and um wrong. The support is actually one of the most interactive roles. You never see a support just stand there because they think they dont do damage, they are there to help the adc do more damage. The game is not centered around being a support, if anything its far from.

Cause they're good at it. It's not because the role is boring, it's because they do pretty much the job of a support. Just with damage.

Having people who don't like the role isn't Riot's fault. I actually enjoy the roll. I feel more satisfaction out of saving someone's life from an impossible situation than I feel when I get a triple kill. The problem with the support roll is that people as a general rule are selfish glory mongers who only care about their own good looks. I think a score of 1/5/20 looks a whole lot better than a score of 10/1/2 but most people disagree. They are in it for themselves and will flash to get that final auto attack in even though a teammate is right there to finish the job without burning any long cooldown abilities.

Also, anytime someone tries to change the support role there is an outcry and the person gets reported. If you don't play the traditional support then your team just flames and reports you anyways so the community obviously doesn't want it changed. Take the guy who was punished for playing Singed support with smite for example. He described his strategy to his team and had a positive win rate with that strategy but they didn't care because it wasn't the traditional support role and he was reported.

I main some supports like morgana and Zilean as they get some fun and unusual toys to mess with people and help as you do it. but I do agree some supports (looking at youJanna andSoraka ) are rather mundane. some too good for what they are Blitzcrank Sion and some rather situational but still tagged as support cause of like one move in there set that buffs a teammate TahmKench Kayle Fiddlesticks. yes. fiddle is for some reason a support even tough he has no moves for helping like heals/buffs only a long cool silence and a fear edit:Gangplank is a support. SURE RIOT,and I am bread.

I was support main for years, yet after losing game after game that we could have won by just split pushing, or making that one play I gave up. It is disappointing when your team has no tactic. When you can't get through to your team that the opposing team has weaknesses and that they need to exploit them. As a support you are very limited in being a play maker, or even split pushing. I have lost game after game where my team had the gold lead, yet they had no clue how to win the game ie always going for kills ignoring objectives.

And what's your solution? Make SR a 4v4?
