Essence Reaver Kayle

I recently discovered this combination. It's purpose is really for a hybrid build on Kayle. You build the typical Nashors and whatever boots you like. However you then build Reaver for the sustain, life steal and extra damage. Again this is meant for a hybrid build so it assumes you're building a rageblade and a hextech gunblade for lots of sustain. I recommend you try it next time you take Kayle mid or top :)

Wouldn't Bloodthirster just be better if you wanted lifesteal+damage?

Hybrid builds are pretty terrible, it just kills your end-game potential.

I mean - AD, AS, Crit, armor pen, and life steal all multiply the effectiveness of one-another. Getting the first 4 causes you damage to go: 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 = 16

With AP, Rabadon's bonus, magic penetration, Lich Bane's burst, and DFG's burst also cause your damage to generally go: 2 x 2 x 2 x 2 = 16.

No attack or magic stats actually multiply the effectiveness of one-another though. Having joint AD and AP ratios just means AD is added to AP, not multiplied, for your damage there. Armor pen only applies on physical damage, magic pen on magical damage. With hybrid builds (say, AD, AS, AP, and lich bane), you're scaling pattern basically goes: (2 x 2) + (2 x 2) = 8

Even with Kayle forcing AP to scale with attack speed, you're looking at a pretty ~meh Kayle with multiple hybrid items.

Generally speaking the only reason to grab a hybrid item is that they're most cost-effective than dedicated attack or magic damage items as a first item, to offset their lack of scaling 2~3 major items in. If you pick up 1 hybrid damage item (like Trinity Force, Wit's End, Feral Flare, Gunblade, Nashor) then proceed with an otherwise dedicated attack or magic build, you can get a solid early power spike, maintain a pretty solid force 2 items in with some multipliers, and have your finish not fall off super hardcore. Not have it fall off at all if you're Kayle, seeing as she at least forces %AS to play nice with AP. Early game boost and dominant late-game carry - if you don't go pure hybrid.

You should essentially never get 2 major hybrid items.
