A question about Jarven's ultimate "Cataclysm"

When i think about , the first thing that comes to my mind is his ultimate it's great at trapping and keeping enemies in a position so your team could follow up and as an added bonus it does aoe damage. Unfortunately it doesn't always work out for me like i plan, champs either use their skills to jump out of the ult, throw me out of my ult , and most of the time they out of the ult. I know i'm bronze i suck , i get that.

So here's my question:

How many champions can jump out of Jarven's ultimate without using flash?

At least the following: Aatrox Ahri Azir Caitlyn Corki Ekko Ezreal Fiora Fizz Gnar Gragas Graves JarvanIV Kalista Kassadin Katarina Khazix Kindred Leblanc LeeSin Lissandra Lucian Nidalee Quinn RekSai Renekton Riven Sejuani Shaco Shen Tristana Tryndamere Vayne MonkeyKing Yasuo Zac Zed Ziggs The above is only counting those that can either get out themselves by blowing a reasonable cooldown or use you as a target to get out of the ult. The list is larger if we include ultimates and minions being around you at time of ulting.

shit that's a lot , i find it funny when i read Jarven's ultimate on his preview page and it says" impassable terrain" why does riot still say that if so many champions could easily escape the ult ?

JarvanIV He's from a simpler time. When champs didn't have so many built-in flashes... No idea why they haven't updated that yet.

You're actually missing a ton of champions.

Bard can get himself and everyone else out. Akali/Braum/Elise can go to minions/champs. There's a full list somewhere, it's about half the champions in the game at this point.

if half of the champions in this game can escape his ult without using flash, Is Jarven's ultimate worth using at this point ?

Yeah, it's still really good, you just need a reason to ult other than just to ult. If you have some aoe on your team Anivia Annie Fiddlesticks Gnar Heimerdinger Katarina MissFortune Orianna Twitch Vladimir Yasuo Ziggs or they don't have many of the jumping champs (this will happen more than you think).

The biggest thing about J4 ult is actually when NOT to use it, since you don't want to trap your team Ashe Jinx or stop your team's engage Sion Kennen <---can't get into perfect spot

Yes but not in the jungle and not as a means to trap people, it's fairly useless in that regard.

It is amazing as burst damage as toplane AD jarvan. Toplane is where Jarvan is currently strongest, his jungle is very mediocre in comparison.

yeah your probably right, jarven's ultimate is better at the top lane than in the jungle . So what's do you like to build on Jarven?

Hydra->Bork->Cleaver->Tank items.

Your goal at start is to try to get their health to around 50% or so and then all in at level 6. You can go earlier. Take ignite.

Your trade is either poke with q, or EQ one hit with martial passive, then retreat, repeat. You can start with corrupting pot or LS +pots.

Last time I checked Bard can't use portal on player-created terrain.
I also stated that the list didn't include minion hops.

I find the best solution to people escaping your ult is to build item 3147 , they can't escape if they're dead

Jarven is best new champ.

Almost as good as Hiemer and Ezrael.

i agree Jarven is a good champ but i'm starting to have second thoughts about his ultimate, But it might be because i'm just bad with Jarven .

A few flashes are worth a J4 ult. Obviously picking him into a team camp that have a lot of dashes etc then it'll go wasted but its amazing against immobile team comps.
