First off, I know next to nothing about the jungle (adc/support main who can count the number of games as a jungler on one hand). But with the recent changes to jungle this season making the average jungler a few levels lower then they were in past seasons, wouldn't this be the time for the more utility focused junglers to shine instead of the hyper-gankers? Everyone is saying that only hyper-gankers are viable now but why is that exactly? [sg-lux-2]
How do I put this.
First of all, utility picks are in fact doing pretty well. Zac, Nunu, even Maokai and Ivern are all finding really good success in the jungle right now.
Second of all, hyper gankers are always in vogue. This is driven largely by how Lee Sin is always the most popular Jungler in the game, and many Hyper Gankers are simply fun to play. It really never matters what the meta is.
And, well, the people who say only hyper gankers are viable are just factually wrong. Using lolalytics' tier list, the top 10 Junglers in the game are: Rek'Sai - Ganker Elise - Ganker Ekko - Farmer Master Yi - Farmer Olaf - Farmer Shaco - Ganker Kha'Zix - Opportunistic Ganker Rengar - Farmer unless you know how to abuse Rengar Karthus - Farmer Sett - Weirdo
Of these, there are only 3 true Power Gankers.
