Hextech Protobelt does not belong on the rift. Here's my thought on it.
Hextech Protobelt
: The cost efficiency of the item, the extra burst damage it does, the short CD of the item, or even the forgiving mechanic of shooting a projectile behind you to possibly slow with a Rylai's for a get away are all pretty good. Even with all that it still feels awfully slot inefficient, which some could argue is the balance, but I say is even more reason to remove it. It comes down to either A: You're taking it because you need the dash or B: You don't need the dash and it's going to be abused on champions it was not designed for. I'm not writing this for a nerf, I'm writing this to try to remove it altogether.
1.When Hextech Protobelt was created, it was designed to give short-ranged mages (maybe some tanks) some extra mobility, particularly those without a dash. I have a problem with that premise in general. I believe if a champion NEEDS a dash to be successful, then the champion has a failed/out dated kit in general, which might point towards a rework. If the champion DOESN'T need the extra dash, then often times it would be OP to have a spare dash handy.
2.It Completely Changes the game. Besides Flash, It is the ONLY source of a dash/blink in the game that is not part of a champs kit already. Every champion would love an extra dash in their kit, dashes are powerful. Champions for which this item was not designed for can use this item to make for a less than enjoyable experience on the receiving end. It completely changes the game. It makes champions who are already reliant on keeping a considerable distance (e.g. Xerath, Vel'Koz,) EXTREMELY harder to play against an already challenging match-up (E.G. LeBlanc, Akali). It's already hard enough to survive those match-ups, one single miss-step and you are dead, add another burst and gap closer in there and it's just that much more difficult to handle. The item often give champions that rely on getting in and getting out another tool to do so that their kits were not balanced around, which once again leads back to my first point.
Also why do only AP scaling champs get an item to dash? Maybe because it would be OP or just awkward if AD scaling champs got it too, but I believe it's OP and awkward on AP scaling champs currently as well.
What do you guys think? Am I wrong? Am I on to something?
P.S. I don't know if Protobelt is used in pro play or challenger levels, there may be reasons it's not popular IF it's not popular at those tiers... but keep in mind that 73% of ranked players are Bronze 5 up to and including Gold 5. I know there is some serious room for abuse of this item at those levels.
)? Having extra dash might feel good for immobile mages but the problem is that if mages don't build a specific items they do no damage and protobelt is not in that build... Everytime I built it on champions like Teemo, Lux, Soraka it still didn't help me survive assassins and using it offensively has not much point on these champs so yeah... In the end the item is only abused by champions with already good mobility to furher enhance it...
Hextech Gunblade's 2 second 40% slow too strong, not to mention it has really high scalling damage and a low cooldown of 40 seconds.
Plz dont remove it, just rework it so it doesn't cater to assassins.
builds it usually first.
synergizes wayyy too well to give it up, and i'd rather not have to sell it/buy gunblade. Also I don't think I've seen an Akali or LB build it, like, ever
builds it.
Dashes and hits you with empowered Q
does the job better.
for dem uber oneshots.
are more potent than
, on a single champion ..
can abuse their range / potent AoE Damage to farm up, without putting themselves in danger.
