Master Yi

Has anyone ever fought against a master yi jungle. When late game all he does is ult then e and q and kill you. Have you ever fought a master yi who is so toxic you want to through your pc out the window. Every single game I play there has to be a master yi jungle, and every single time we have a break to get dragon or baron or to push mid HE IS ALWAYS THERE. Master yi is broken we all know that but this is getting to goddamn repetitive. All a master yi has to do know late game is push r and e and wait and when they try to skill shot you, you q. I am not saying to nerf him but please, please i am begging you to do something.

Master Yi has never been in a worse state though.. Like, he's actually garbage right now. Highlander has a pathetically short duration without resets and if you get minion blocked for even 1 of those seconds, you've wasted your ult. Highlander doesn't even last long enough for Yi to take down tanks. Meditate is interrupted by any form of displacement, and there's a LOT of displacement in today's League of Legends. His Alpha Strike makes him untargetable, yes, however it's also hilariously bugged and he has a habit of dying from autoattacks or abilities while in Alpha Strike. Don't even complain about his true damage, it's a pathetic amount and really doesn't add much to his overall damage unless you run Guinsoos. In fact, if not for that true damage, he'd actually be the worst champion in the game, because all Master Yi does is physical damage and autoattack, meaning armor-stacking would ruin his life (even with Cleaver or Last Whisper)

Hard cc him, burst him, he's dead. If you can't, you are dead.

The problem is his abilities, he can become un targetable, heal, and buff himself while moving fast as fuck. this should not be allowed because then Yi doesn't have to try, I see Yi's IN COMBAT who just stand there and heal then go in and kill you, it's complete bullshit.

**Fun fact 1: **Olaf's ulti gives him higher MS than Yi's ulti on all levels, almost double the bonus in the first 2 levels (out of 3) of the spell; while technically only for charging towards a visible enemy but then again that's kinda what you use both spells mostly for.

Fun fact 1.5: If I understand this correctly, Rakan's ulti also gives a higher MS than Yi's ulti on all levels of the spell, and you know how much people complain about Rakan's MS boost in his ulti being "distance neutral". "Yi fast as fuck" is an outright lie, it probably gives the impression because Yi sometimes use R solely to escape or even just to cross distances on the map and that Highlander does last longer as well as being on a shorter CD, but to say that Yi's identity is the pinnacle of fast is really not correct.

Fun fact 2: Yi's heal is on a flat 35 second CD for all levels, which is long as all fuck, and to rub more salt in it is also a channel that can be interrupted by any hard CC. Not to mention the actual heal amount is also pitiful unless Yi is on the very brink of death which then it is actually useful but that's not saying much; the spell is in reality and practice, prized for the damage negation (which is the only good thing in the spell) rather than the heal.

Fun fact 3: Yi's untargetability has an 18 second CD at spell level 1, 14 second CD at spell level 5; it is quite long and the refresh mechanism is both conditionally restricted to AA'ing which requires himself being exposed to danger as he's a glass-melee, kill/assist which requires risky play since his base damage is utterly shit and the kill/assist refresh is also gated by the fact he has no access to it for the first 6 levels of the game.

Fun fact 4: Yi dies very often in untargetability due to the fundamental bug inside the mechanism that makes champs takes a lot of unintended damage during the untargetability frames, which Riot has since completely given up on fixing as that would require remaking a good portion of the game engine or something along that line. The bug is most observed on champs like Yi and Kayn, whose untargetability frame is longer and/or lock them on the enemy in the middle of a fight (Fizz's E is faster and usually used to escape from fights, Mao's is fast so chances of receiving unintended damage is low, Vlad's untargetability pool spell-vamps so the unintended damage during untargetability is less noticeable, etc). So it's not technically really THAT 'untargetable', and the bug is what seriously hold YI and Kayn back competitively.

Fun fact 5: Yi has to try A LOT in any reasonable elo and against any player with more than half a brain. There is a reason why despite the solid play rate (sitting on a crisp ideal play rate of 7 or so %, though that number probably approaches 0 in anywhere above Diamond), Yi is almost never contested in champ select for pick or bans beyond the bottom elos, and his win rate is below average to say the least. There is a reason why even Cowsep, one of the few diehard of Yi, has given up on playing Yi because of how useless he actually is in any remotely competitive environment where the players aren't just playing without thinking.

Fun fact 5.5: Yi according to OPGG's statistics, doesn't actually scale into late game, and in fact, he only scales positively in relation to game-time for the first 30-35 min of the game, and beyond that, he actually scales negatively. He also only breaks above 50% win rate for that brief period of 30-35 min mark of a match, as everywhere else he's below it, even in the late game he's supposedly (and suppose to be) very good at. This shows yes indeed, in continuation of fact 5, Yi has to try quite a bit.

I appreciate the knowledge you have presented me however I cannot agree to Master Yi not receiving a nerf of some kind. Just by saying "his abilities have long cooldowns" doesn't change the fact of how the abilities are used to kill you very quickly (let me elaborate) it doesn't matter about the cool down duration what matters is what the abilities do themselves, also it won't matter how long his cool downs are once he kills you with them this is simple logic. And even if he can't use his abilities he is no doubt going to build AD and attack speed to auto you to death.

And even if he can't use his abilities he is no doubt going to build AD and attack speed to auto you to death

His base damage is not high, I mean his only burst damage, Q at level 1 literally deals bonus 20 damage on top of his somewhat subpar base AD, that's right, a whooping bonus 20; while it does get better and actually resembles a damage spell later (and that the crit department of the spell is actually seen now since you'd probably have at least a crit item somewhere in the bag in the later stages of the game; though it's not rare to see Yi not opt for crit at all and swap for defensive items instead since he's just that easy to die) but in its first couple levels its really pitiful and the spell overall is just not a good idea if you compare it to the concept of "killing you very quickly (with the spells, doesn't matter the CD)".

His good damage are all melee, specifically AA'ing, since most of his budget are centering around procing his E self-buff, passive additional AA, and whatever on-hit items he has (R is just a mean to this end). But there's a problem to this kind of scaling, because it means his early-to-mid game is crap because the strength of this character is ENTIRELY tied to how fed he is before he even gets fed; do you see the "leg work" Yi has to do, that he has to get fed while he's useless (like LITERALLY USELESS since he has ZERO utility in his kit whatsoever)? Not to mention, continuous AA'ing has a fundamental risk of being exposed to danger from their teammates the longer you whack at a target, the it's not doing Yi favour when he's also squishy as fuck on top of his sustain spell being stuck on monster CD and is easily interrupted, and that he practically has no escape from sticky situations beyond a very situation use of his engage tool or just plain running away on foot (unless you count those as actual escapes).

It's not even like Trynd, or Yasuo, or Fiora who have some sort of innate BS perks somewhere tied in to their intrinsic gameplay, hopefully conditional, to overcome that paradox of a character powercurve that's in the AA melee carries (Trynd has passive crit and his fucking ulti; Yasuo is resourcelss and CD-less, being pretty much immune to pokes, and has double crits; Fiora has the riposte that blocks everything and the 'vital' mini-game for bonus dps and burst).

Yi is like Udyr, whose usefulness is entirely determined by how bad the opponents are or how utterly superior you are as a player in comparison to your foes; it's not really kidding, these champs are mostly handicaps in comparison to the good majority of the roster, barring those who'd been nerfed into 7th circle of oblivion like Shaco, because their kits are actually seriously lacking, predictable, incredibly easy to counter and lacks innate ways to actually outplay their opponents beyond outsmarting/outplaying them entirely from the very beginning. There is a reason why Yi is mostly used by better players to crush worse players (typically smurfs use Yi to crush Bronze for youtube videos or whatever), or at least most known by that position.

**EDIT: **Also I failed to mention, as said before, Yi's win rate plunged as the game goes on past 30-35 min of the game. Because given the current state of the game where utility and mobility creeps reign supreme, Yi is actually no longer good at where he's supposed to shine, and his weaknesses only expose harder than ever before on top of that. This also plays into the main point I was hammering, that Yi is now a handicap champ, that just for someone reason some people still believe that he's broken and need nerfs.

I'm just basing my argument and problems I have with Master Yi on my actual experience playing against him, and based on your argument and what I have actually seen I'm at a lose for words as to what I should believe about Yi. You say he is not as strong as others say but from what I have seen Master Yi doesn't have to struggle just to get kills in fact it's quite the opposite he seemingly effortlessly gets kills and can't be killed. I don't know how to respond to your argument because it is completely contradictory to what I've seen.

Idk where you're playing at, but even in blind normal at around B1 norms elo people know how to play against Yi here on OCE. Yi is the champ I have the most mastery point on, and ironically he's the champ among the ones that I play that is the hardest for me to get S rank on even in my bronze elo normal blind pick matches; not to mention I've almost never seen a Yi that has less than 9 deaths by the end of a match (including myself), no matter how hard they were carrying; that's saying something.

Also my experience from both playing Yi and seeing Yi being played also confirms the statistical trend of Yi that his early is outright garbage and that Yi does actually get weaker and less relevant as the match goes into late-game. He has no utility, is restricted by high CD and 1 dimensional kit that forces him to AA people, and further screwed over by his pitiful base given that he's meant to scale into late game; so his early is completely trash. But then his late game is also atrocious too, because he can not teamfight and he lacks the "BS" that other melee AA carries have as mentioned before, given his intended "BS" heal/block is fully interruptable and his Alpha Strike refresh is only ever useful in skirmishes since it's kill/assist bound and is only 70% refresh (not to mention the stupid bug that makes him take all the damage in an area during Alpha Strike, it has nonsensically killed me while playing Yi countless times and it's utterly stupid; hell, I even got hooked by Thresh once while in Alpha Strike, like wtf?). I guess if there's any actual "BS" in his kit, it's his stupidly long CD on his 2 most important spells.

No matter how fed he actually is, he's practically just a really good janitor and someone who can steal turrets and objectives somewhat fast even in his highest prime, which it is.... well, not impressive, at least not for a hypercarry. Assuming in reasonable elo (which by that I actually just mean any elo from B1-2 onwards), the chance Yi has is to somehow get fed with his garbage early, and quickly utilitse the feeble amount of time in mid-game in which he's actually strong to do some damage and hopefully it forces the enemy team into surrenders from there, or else he literally goes to shit. THat's how sad of a champ he is atm.

Is it possible to use Yi to cause ruin and destruction? Yes, but as I've said, that usually requires much more than you think even if it appears easy, usually when Yi does wreck big havoc, it really means you've been completely outplayed (either because they're a troll smurf, or because you just played that bad; either way, it means you'd been caught out hard and AA'ed to death by someone who's just slightly more powerful than a couple minions in terms of early game use, continue to make big mistakes after big mistakes for him to capitalise on, and/or continue to do so even in late-game where Yi is terrible against teamfights).

Remember Yi is a hypercarry champ who has 0 utility and flexibility, has one of the worst early game in the league despite needing to get fed to even be relevant, and even when being fed and relevant as a stat-check carry he can still die to a single stun or even just a solid 1 single second of 3-man focusing no matter how fed he is; Yi really isn't as good as you might think. Let's just say there are worse champs to deal with in the game.

that is good macro play on his part. have you ever tried playing yi into a competent team? so hard to get flanks on a team that's on a lookout for you, and fuck Janna and these item 3157item 3190 item 3107 items in particular.

the only reason he gets those cool pentas in some cases is because he's just a janitor cleaning up what his team couldn't finish. it means his team was already strong enough to somehow massively damage your team before losing a 4v5, and he does a drive by. in this case, add a strong teamfighter into the mix, and the team wouldn't have lost in the first place to require a clean up.
