Taliyah Ultimate and Passive Change suggestions.
Taliyah
is one of my favourite champions. I am currently a Taliyah support main and I am in love with her Basic abilities. But there are some minor issues with her kit design that I believe can be reworked to make her more defined in her role and capability as both a support or midlaner, in all stages of the game.
I will address both issues in her kit i have a problem with.
Taliyah's Ultimate: Weaver's Wall is 100% a utility based ultimate. It has a very long cooldown, even at max rank. This ability also requires specific positioning, and communication with your team to pull off well. This means that at level 6, while most champions get a large powerspike due to the threat of their ultimates, Taliyah falls behind.
Taliyah's Passive: Rock Surfing. Rock Surfing is also a utility based passive. When near walls, Taliyah gains 20-40% movespeed. This ability allows her to get back to lane faster or roam a bit better than other champions. This ability requires a lot of conscious effort to use, with a payout that isn't the most satisfying.
Here is the first part of my suggestion to alter her kit. In order to give Taliyah a level 6 powerspike that is unique to her, and suits her niche/theme well, I suggest that Taliyah's current passive is moved to be a passive in part of her Ultimate. Weaver's Wall will still have the same active, but upon ranking the skill up, Taliyah will gain the Rock Surfing passive, which will give her 30%/40%/50% MS while surfing. This means as soon as Taliyah hits Level 6, she will not gain a teamfight/combat oriented powerspike, but rather a large map presence powerspike. This makes her Level 6 roam with Ult a strong tool that can affect any lane/area of the map, and will put her closer to being equal to other champions with level 6 powerspikes.
Now that her passive is moved to her ultimate I would suggest a new passive that works with all of her Basic Abilities flawlessly. Taliyah's new Passive: Sharp Rocks. Sharp Rocks is an original passive I thought of that works kind of like Amumu passive, but fitted perfectly to Taliyah. On Every instance of damage from Taliyah's abilities, the enemy will lose 1/2/3/4 Magic Resistance stacking up to 5 times, lasting 4 seconds OR lasting 3 seconds then having a stack fall off every 0.5 seconds. This will give Taliyah a major oomph in extended trading and teamfights. The way this passive is perfectly suited to Taliyah is that it applies on every instance of damage from her abilities. That means if Taliyah hits an enemy with all 5 of her Threaded Volley shots, then they will lose 5/10/15/20 MR, or if Taliyah hits her E+W combo, one stack from the W, 4 stacks from E. Essentially, this makes Taliyah strong at buffing her allies' magic damage in teamfights, or getting a pick in a fight. Of course, I am not a champion designer, so the passive may seem a bit strong, but the numbers can be tweaked.
Overall I think these changes would help refine her Control Mage niche more. At level 6, start roaming. In teamfights, get a pick for your team.
