Riot: ALL RANDOM URF SUCKS

So recently, Rito release all random urf on the PBE. Yes, URF, but dont get excited.... Its basically aram urf on summoner's rift. I understand that ARURF is rito's idea to balance normal urf because of all the op stuff like zed and three bans are not enough. But after a few rounds of it on the PBE, I realized that ARURF is not fun at all. It doesnt have the charm that URF does. Every single game is dictated by a coin flip. DID YOUR TEAM HAVE A Zed , Jax , Warwick (yes he is stupid on urf), Sona , Fizz ? INSTA WIN. ENEMY TEAM HAS ONE OF THESE CHAMPS? WELL YOU CANT DO ANYTHING TO WIN. In every game of ARURF, only few players that get op champs have fun killing everyone else and not even losing hp. The rest of the players have to look at a grey monitor half the time. Riot if you have read this, ARURF is a good idea on paper but its really just the opposite of fun when playing it. Heck, players might even dodge queues all the time if they dont get good champs. I think perma-banning the op champs can work on normal URF and if players want to play the op stuff, let them do it in custom games! Overall, as a player that has tried ARURF, I was quite disappointed. Thanks for trying RITO, but bring us the old URF back.[slayer-jinx-catface] Oh and pls ban Warwick or you will have nightmares.

People complained about the same champions being picked over and over and said it made the game too stale. Riot doesn't seem to realize that making URF ARAM ruins it even more cause RNG decides who wins in champion select, when both sides had access to to the "OP" champs there was no issue, it was their choice to spam the same ones so clearly they weren't bored of it. All they had to do was add more bans and it was fine, Riot thinks they need to make drastic changes for small problems ALL the time though

That's why they upped the re-roll rate.

There was an issue when both sides have access to the OPs though, the basic forcing of someone to pick that OP or people would feel like they instalost the game.

They couldn't play what they actually wanted to play since that OP was up and would "for sure need to be played" for even ground.

The only people that were "OP" in the game mode were the hyper mobile or hyper cc heavy champs, in which they're issues in the real game as well so that's Riots fault not URFS.

Maokai for ex is constantly one of the most contested and overpowered tanks to choose from and he was absolutely infuriating in URF.

Zed was another. The assassin rework hadn't come out by last URF and Zed was an issue way back when it came around in both URF and normals.

Again, it's Riot's fault those champs were performing so stupidly. URF as a game mode had nothing to do with the meta being stale/forcing champs to be pick. Instead of changing the entire game they could've just balanced the champs that were already causing issues anyway

Evelynn, Urgot, and Hecarim were hardly considered overpowered when original URF ran it's course - in fact, they were all in a considerably shittier state than now, since they've been hella buffed since then. They just had kits that highly favored the next-to-non-existent cooldowns.

Do you remember how sad people were that they couldn't pick certain champs since they were disabled? Or how much people whined about being vs Sona/Karma/Galio/Brand... the list keeps going. At least now melee champs might actually get to see some play (like after snowball was added to ARAM). Modes inherently need tweaks sometimes to feel more fair.

I've been around since the first URF and never really found it stale or unfair. Yea people played the same champs but I mean those champs were fun to play, it's no different than people who OTP in normals. I played Shaco almost all the time in URF, not because he was OP or anything but just because he was my main at the time. After it went random it got less fun to me. Being Bard or Yasuo in URF vs Ezreal/Evelynn/Hecarim etc. just wasn't fun and I had no control over the outcome of the game simply cause I was forced into a crappy pick.

Being forced into something by RNG in a mode meant to be chaotic and wild isn't fun at all. I'm not saying they should get rid of randomness all together but they should at least give us the option to do it or not if people are sick of the same thing they wouldn't have kept coming back to urf

Well, as someone who was also around back then, I have the opposite opinion.

Nearly all of my fav champs to spam have double-activatable abilities or a static lockout on them Anivia Kassadin Lissandra Udyr Azir. I couldn't even play most of them in URF without someone dodging or thinking I was trolling due to all of the OPs that I flat-out didn't like playing. I think increasing the RR rate and being able to trade freely was a nice halfway point that stops a meta from insta-forming.

They made these changes because the URF participation would heavily drop off once a meta settled, they didn't decide to change it out of nowhere.

Every time I see a thread like this, all I can think of is how these people probably never played the original URF.

When it came out, it was beautiful. There were random picks everywhere, and people were doing batshit insane things.

3 days later - Hecarim, Evelyn, Master Yi, Zed etc every game. Of course there were a few people who picked random shit, but every game, there was that one guy/gal tryharding (for lack of a better term) in what was supppsed to be the most casual game mode.

The second urf was basically the same, except the meta set in within hours instead of days

At least with ARURF you can at least assume the enemy aren't being dicks on purpose by picking a known OP

The lesson to be learned here is that games are great fun until you allow Gamers to play them.

I played every URF so far and the inability to pick the champ that you like to play really took the fun

Old URF got boring really, REALLY fast. Every game you saw the same champions, people flaming you if you dared to pick something else.

I am not a fan of URF in general, but ARURF is at least moderately entertaining.

My Issue with ARURF is there's certain champions I want to test out in it for fun.. I don't want to get stuck with a champion I don't like.. So for that reason I'm out.

Or you know like some other board user posted we could have Bloodmoon style URF where each team is rolled 20 random champions and you get to pick from them, keeps it more interesting while stopping it from always being hec eve zed ect

I feel like each and every year, Riot seems to demoralize urf and make it even worse than what people already like it as.

It is enough that Summoner's Rift is turning into Zedmode again, we don't need another one, thanks.

Well... even if the team who get one of the 5 wins - at least you see 9 other funny champs. Unlike normal Urf - there, the team who got all 5 of them wins if the other team ONLY has 4 + this one player who dares to pick something funny...

First few rounds of normal URF per rotationa are usually alot of fun, until people start spamming their precious OP picks 2 or 3 days in. ARURF wil be fun for more than 1 day that's why I appreciate it.

I think WRURF is a great way to spice up the typical used formula. It's meant to be silly and off the wall. Adding AR to it makes it so a mini meta doesn't form while it's out.
