Is darius as useless as I think he is?

Ive hardly played darius, but in so many games when Im dealing with an ADC or Twisted fate or kayle, and alot of other basic attackers, I Q them early game and it does only a little damage. And before you can even stack ur stacks to kill them with ult your dead

A long time ago I used to main garen, this wasnt the case with garen. I could literally stack pure armor and health and do massive damage. Darius on the other hand doesnt do jackk without damage/tank items combined.

That's because you are playing him wrong. The point of your Q is not to deal damage, it is to heal you so you can trade.

If the enemy is going for you, kite them with your W and Q until you get 5 stacks, and THEN fight. Don't forget that, unlike Garen, you can't just go in charging with your Q on like a maniac. You have to wait for the right opportunity.

Do NOT build attack speed on Darius. He is literally one of the lowest attack speed champions in the game, so building attack speed on him won't do anything.

Idk why this got downvoted. Building attack speed on Darius is pretty bad considering he's a caster. Only AS item I would even consider if TF and that's more for the other stats.

He also gets crapped on if you don't build tanky stats on him, hence the HUGE opportunity cost on attack speed items.

Also, please don't tell me you ACTUALLY build Bork and Ghostblade on him....

They nerfed his dmg, but added the healing on Q. Still, the overall changes are always nerfs. GP was doing more dmg and was tankier pre-rework, Darius- too, FIora - too. These champs get overplayed in LCS and then eat the nerf bat, becoming trash after the nerfs.

One of Darius' biggest weaknesses is being kited, Auto attackers have an easy time with that.

Different champions have different play styles and builds. Garen generally builds full tank. Because that's what he's good at, being a brick wall with a silence and an execute. Darius on the other hand is good at cleaning up and brawling.

If he's useless, you aren't playing him right. I just had a game yesterday with a guy playing Darius for the first time. He went 0/6 in the laning phase trying to figure him out and then hard carried the rest of the game. He had a Quadrakill to win the final teamfight.
