Idea on how to bring back Sword of the Occult:

Upgrades from item 1083 (like Mejai's does from Dark Seal)

Cull's unique passive must be disabled to upgrade, and still must be done manually at the shop with additional gold greater than the bonus granted by the passive.

Adjust cull's unique passive to be completed at 50 CS and give half as much bonus gold.

Sword of the Occult has Mejai's effects in AD and grants physical damage healing (like Death's Dance does and shares the unique passive) at 15 stacks.

Might be worth considering to let them stack, but also reducing the effects of both items.

Rengar ono

but it'd definitely be an interesting thing to have back.

You do realize Rengar would need to be in lane to properly use SotO in this iteration, right?

Cull only works on minions, so jungle camps will not be of benefit. Lane Rengar does not have the same ganking potential and totally loses out on early snowball potential with his passive/SotO.

Implying it's hard for rango to lane.

Implying that jungle rango can't tax lanes/splitpush.

But if you're saying its like Dark Seal and Mejai's, then he can just buy it outright instead of buying Cull first and just start going ham on people :c

Incorrect. It actually falls under requirements similar to Muramana and Seraph's since Cull's passive MUST be used up before you upgrade it. However, unlike the above, you have to pay to make the upgrade.

Meanwhile...

  • If he lanes he can't stack his passive.
  • He can't start it as a jungle due to his sub-par clear.
  • He would still need to earn the stacks mid game AFTER Cull is completely used up on top of purchasing the upgrade itself, as described above.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I see.

I guess that would be interesting, at the same time assassins would benefit from it a lot. But if it's the AD version of Mejai's it could be a cool addition again :D. It's been gone for so long I've forgotten the stats they had on it in the first place :c.

Assassins and ADC would both have plenty of reason to use it. However, since Mejai's now has the old bonus of additional move speed, I figured Physical Damage Vamp (just like Death's Dance) would be more appropriate.

As to the actual AD per stack, still up in the air. I suspect it'll be 3 or 4 per stack with a cap at 20 rather than 25.

Agreed, but I'd like it to be more of a high risk high reward type of thing, like with Mejai's, which of course it will be.

Now for PDV (physical damage vamp since I'm lazy) that might be a LITTLE bit too much, but I guess if you tuned the numbers appropriately it could be used. The whole thing about PDV is that if you overtune the numbers on the item that has it, it can be one of the best items in the game.

I guess. I dunno, I'm sort of just speculating if it ever does come back :).

What I'm guessing is though - it won't come back with the name of Sword of the Occult, but be reworked into a new item with a different name etc etc but the same concept. IF it ever does come back. Which with Mejai's still being here, I think it will at some point in our lifetimes.
