Should we change the lane META?

I got into a discussion with some teammates and they didn't have any reasons besides "that's the way it is." I'm not high elo (low silver) but shouldn't lane swaps, and change ups be more common. We renekton vs singed. Ren lost hard. Don't wanna start a "well that's a bad player, ren counters singed" talk. Why didn't ren go bot and the adc go top to beat up on singed at range. Why is the dual lane bot anyway? It used to be because it allowed 4 people on drag (jg, mid, bot, sup). And drag had a scaling increase in power for consecutive takes. But isn't herald more important and less random than drag right now? Lots of jg can solo drag well, and even assassins can get someone to tank it for them. I think that the duo lane should go top to be closer to herald so you can kill it faster and sooner. This nets first tower, which is a huge gold advantage. People will say "but what about drag?" Its random. Yes if its infernal maybe duo goes bot, but what about wind, or ocean? Doesn't seem worth. Besides, it would shake up the jg too, because you could get a duo leash closer to blue buff (assuming your blue side top). More mana spam jg? Anyway most people don't think critically about champ vs champ matchups (or map position) at my elo, and I wish they would switch more to get the best advantage.
