Twisted Treeline Match-making

What is it based on? Seems like it's completely tilted in favor of better players. I'm silver in 3s, for instance. Ever since I got out of bronze, every 3s game has consisted of me and 2 other silver/bronze players against 3 gold (if I'm lucky) or higher (which it usually is). It's not uncommon for me to lane against a diamond while I'm ganked by a platinum. Is this so better players can rank up faster, or what? Yes, I know, I'm terrible and I need to get good blah blah etc. etc. But I'm genuinely curious as to why the match-making is set up this way. Same thing could be said for flex ranked.

I just want to clarify, when your talking about your opponent's ranking, it's regarding their TT ranking right? I'm just not sure, as I'm under the impression that most websites tracked yoloQ ranking.

But overall, your match making should be based off a hidden stat called your match making rating. (MMR) Which can differ from your actual rank. You might have an MMR higher than your actual rank, or your opponents may have a lower one.

Otherwise, because TT is less popular, the match making may be taking greater liberties which creating teams.
