Who thought this was a good idea ? (Matchmaking)

Almost every game i play , there is someone on my or enemy team that is 2 Divisions ahead of me , im gold matched with / vs plat or diamond players . How is this OK and no one else seems to notice or care WTF . Can we get some equilibrium please ?
