It has been a while. Can we have Taliyah back?

I don't care what most League players say, Taliyah was perfect on her release. Her winrate was the result of a highish-skill champion being just released. I played a ton of Taliyah when she came out and even though I sucked ass back then I was fairly successful with her. She was unique, a mage made to clear waves fast and then roam to help her team win the early game. Then, for some god forsaken reason, Riot decided to change everything.

Original Taliyah passive fit in well with her kit since she was well designed to roam, but now its just awkward and out of place. She can't clear waves at the speed she used to be able to, so she can't roam nearly as well. Original Taliyah Q was for minions. It was the ability you used to clear waves. Usually in teamfights, it was just a little extra damage. The worked ground worked with your roaming since you were rarely in the same place for long. However, Riot decided that her Q should be her main source of damage, so they upped the damage, lowered the minion damage, and now the worked ground is much more of a limitation. Original Taliyah W felt much better to use, it was slower and more reliable. Putting down E and launching in enemies with W was how you did your massive mage damage. However, her W became less reliable, and for some reason W>E became a much more reliable combo. To compensate, E damage was nerfed hard. Now its barely even worth the mana it takes to cost the combo. Original Taliyah ultimate was and is like her passive. Worked super well on the hyper-roamer, but now is just somewhat awkward and out of place.

TL;DR Right now Taliyah feels like she lost her identity and is now just a lackluster Syndra. 6.11 Taliyah was much healthier and more unique, I would like to see Taliyah get reversed like Kog'Maw.

Reverting her to pre-6.14 would be best. Anyone who thinks that she's even slightly okay after 6.14 is flat-out ignorant.

The changes to her overall feel unnecessary, IMO. Seems it was all done in an attempt to effectively lower her skill-ceiling for individuals not wanting to take up time with her; which has left a rather sour taste. Especially with Leblanc recently receiving a rework that allegedly heightened her own. (Not a Lb player.)

Seismic Shove (W): Although initially not the easiest skill to land, it could be mechanically mastered with practice. It felt extremely rewarding if you managed to do so - especially against a competent laner. Also rather disappointed the vertical knockup had to go; people are fond of choice. I'm not sure as to why we couldn't have had the W as it was, but without the lockout. Some argued the old W disrupted the flow of her kit; yet she still performed just fine - I personally felt it suited her.

Unraveled Earth (E): With a nerfed E standing with seriously lackluster damage - for what I can only imagine was to compensate for the "fluidity" brought to her kit with unlocked W vectorcasting (& taking into consideration it has soft CC) - it's seemingly only the start of a long, potentially sad roller-coaster ride of balance issues. Many League players are familiar with the domino effect that often comes as a result of one unnecessary change.

Taliyah is a stoneweaver; known for being capable of shifting the earth beneath her. In her kit, her skin, emotes, and quotes, I felt it all fit wonderfully / thematically. But I can't help but feel that my original impression of, "girl who can manipulate the sturdy ground beneath her" has been skewed; now somewhere along the lines of "girl who slaps rocks around the lane". Of the unnecessary changes (damn near all of them IMO), the tweak to her W did a wonderful job of, in my opinion, stripping her of her identity.

This isn't to say I feel that Taliyah is in a bad spot. Despite her outrageously low playrate, her winrate is holding steady; and I applaud RIOT for any job well-done(coughPre6.14Taliyahcough). That said, I'm kinda sad to see Taliyah change so much into what I feel is becoming "just another face on the rift".

Agreed.

I played Taliyah a fair bit when she was new, and found her somewhat tricky to play, yet fun and rewarding.

More recently, I've tried playing as her a few times, and played against her a few times, and she just feels both lacking and much less skilful.

Her old EW combo required her to set up beforehand and was tricky to pull off, but felt very rewarding when done properly. Because of the setup time, it also let her opponent guess what she was trying to do and play around her accordingly - making it an actual battle of skills between Taliyah trying to land her combo and her opponent trying to dodge it.

The WE combo just feels much cheaper. All she has to do is keep trying to fish for hits with her W, then she can just quickly roll out her E and get guaranteed, no-counterplay bonus damage while her opponent is already in the air. It doesn't feel like setting up a trap, and also gives her opponent much less counterplay. Yet, because of this change, the rest of her kit had to be adjusted to compensate for her more reliable damage output.

I don't understand why they changed so much just to force the Rumble-style targeting onto her W. It made her much worse for everyone, just to humour the people who couldn't understand her unusual targeting paradigm.

"Taliyah is all about control—she dictates when and where she fights by setting up a gauntlet of traps for her lane opponent to navigate." No, RIOT, now she kinda does that, slings her kit around, and is the suboptimal Syndra. MAKETALIYAHGREATAGAIN
