Ranked Matchmaking

So I started playing ranked since I'm level 32 and have been winning quite often. I went to silver 1 today which I am happy about, but what I noticed is every single game I'm the only single silver player. I mean ok, I'm high silver I don't mind gold 5s, but then I start seeing gold 1 and 2 often, then I see a platinum. Even though I'm beating the gold players, and crushed promos, even if I was the only silver and everyone was gold 3, I'm worried that in the future my silver 1 or gold 5 games are gonna be like full of plats. here is my op.gg. your rank has no impact on matchmaking, your mmr (which stands for matchmaking rating) does. the matchmaking rating system is a modified version of the elo system. everyone is placed on a ladder, and you play against people that are around the same number of you. each time you win, you move up the ladder and push other people down. when you lose, other people move up and your rating is pushed down. winning against higher ranked opponents raises your rating more, and likewise losing against lower ranked opponents loses more rating.

so. right now, your mmr is higher than your rank, because you keep winning games against higher mmr players. eventually, the system will put you where you have a roughly 50% win rate and your rank will catch up.
