Can somebody explain me why Braum is in metha now ?

I just don't understand what is so good about him and what changed in metha to make him good ? The reason why I am being so critical of this champ is because I don't really find his skillset good especially I am not sure about low elo, where far not everybody knows/keeps in mind his passsive. His shield E is not any powerful it is enough to hold several AA or 1 ult and correct me if I am wrong it doesn't protect from melee damage, it also doesn't protect from incoming CC. FFs Yasuo shield is much better, why carry shield is much better than support one. The only ability I find to me powerful is his ult. But other supports have decent ults as well. E.g or or WQ of .

Can somebody kindly explain me why he is considered to be strong now ? I want to have wide support champion pool for different team comps, but I need a good reason to have this champion in my pool.

Watch any pro game where Braum is used and you have your reason.

Huge ability to protect his team with WE, decent mobility, proccing his passive on any carry basically wins the fight, huge AoE cc. Braum is all around good.

guess I won't get other responses. There is a very big difference between low elo SoloQ and pro game, ppl here can't use all tools you provide them with. As I said the issue is far not everybody knows/ keeps in mind to apply stacks in low elo, so I do find this Q good, but not better than same Leona Q and E. Huge AOE cc is the only reason why I find Braum interesting. E as I said protects only from some damage and doesn't protect from cc. Thanks for response though.

Well, just consider all of the options. The tank supports we can choose from right now are: Braum, Leona, Alistar, and Taric.

Leona took big damage nerfs to her kit so she drops down a tier. She also got indirect nerfs from the Aftershock damage nerf. That gives Taric, Alistar, and Braum more room to shine. What other pure tank supports do you have in mind? Rakan can't tank nearly as well as the ones already mentioned and players always mess you up when you save them as Tahm Kench. Which nerfs his effectiveness in lower ranks.

Braum also does very well in a hyper carry meta since he can block a Twitch ult, keep Jinx in check, and can give Kog'maw some fits.

Looking at other tank perspectives I think it makes sense for me now. I didn't know about Leona nerf. Not sure why Alistar shines with Aftershock nerf. Thank you, guess I see the reason to be him in metha.
