Dealing With "Ranked Anxiety"?

Hallo, guys, gals, and everyone out there who cares!

Welll I'm keep this simple without any of my boring Vietnam Flashback stories.

Long srory short I'm in Unranked, but was Bronze I last season (placements). My problem is I know I'm alot better then that elo, by the fact that I played ranked before the Seasons end and easily hit my placements in less then 5 hours...My problem is as soon as I hit my placements I had one easy win but then stoped playing ranked all together, being from my intense dread of the ranked scene all together.

So my question is...How do you guys deal with your ranked anxiety? I know some of you hop on and play ranked w/o a care in the world, but for me its a little difficult to come out of my "Normals" shell. I'd love to hear your feedback and advice, but I might not be able to respond to your "constructive"(empisize of constructive) untill later on in the day.

Thank you all for your time and assistence ^>^

I played ranked for the first time this year, after 4 years of normal games. Like...i just didn't care, i wanted to try something new but it really didn't change anything. They're not much different from normal games imho, infact i play them the same way. I was often trying champs or roles i rarely play for the first time in ranked.

played ranked after placements cus a friend wanted to and that was it. literally me and my friend against 5 cus my team afk'd after 3 min and only cus 2 people died how to deal with ranked anxiety, uhm either not play ranked which lets you have fun, or just learn not to give a shit. keep playing, don't listen to trash talking, but listen to the actual smart players trying to give you tips (y'know those nice people that dont yell at you for making a mistake) also not to mention having the "try hard mode" on when you go ranked might not always be beneficial, when the new dynamic q came out me and my friends got in a game and build weirdly cause we were stomping them. only at the end did we realise it was ranked and we all 3 of us had over 10 kills

This is my first year doing ranked after playing this game for about 2 years and im Bronze 2 but with the way my ranked matches have been going with teammates who just absolutely refuse to help whether it is by ganking, warding or pinging MIA, i just decided to pretty much give up on trying for ranked and trying to get out of Bronze. I got screwed on my placements and keep getting losses because the people on my team just absolutely refuse to work as a team and I end up paying for it by losing any and all of my LP that i get.

To me, its just not fair that my individual performance is not in any way weighed in how i am placed. It is all on your wins but being a solo player, it is extremely hard to get that win when you have absolutely no teamwork from the rest of the team. And being an ADC main, they like to blame me since im supposed to "carry". I understand that, but when you dont gank my lane even though i get ganked multiple times since the other team knows you refuse to come to my lane even just to pressure, i dont see how you should have any right to blame me when i am doing the best i can with that kind of handicap. I can only do so much as 1 player and since it is a team game, i DO need the team to help if we have any chance of winning.

I even played with a friend in ranked and he was my support. Our jg not once ganked our lane. He came in right as we were fighting and hid in the bush but didnt bother helping and just watched us die. I asked why he didnt bother to help and the excuse he gave was "if you cant even hold your lane then you dont deserve my help", meanwhile both top and mid lost all their outer turrets before MY lane lost our tier 1, yet our jg and top laner were saying that the jg was carrying with their kills.

This kind of stupidity and lack of teamwork made me reconsider going ranked. That plus the fact that i dont like how a couple of games i actually had to go up against a couple of people who were in gold+ and got put in bronze. I already had a hard enough time with asshole teammates, i dont need to have insult to injury by dealing with that PLUS people who used to be in a way higher elo.

This whole season so far has been pure bullshit for ranked.

I'm sorry that yoir having such bad luck in ranked man :(

For me the issue isnt my team doing bad, since (and not to gloat or anything) I'm fairly certain if I can hard win my lane then I can easlily carry. And thats why frustrates me since I know I can do good and be sucessful in ranled, but its such a stressful place to be in for the most part.

I take a look at all these people who are highly sucessful and are able to play without nervousness and the thought alwaus comes to me, "whats stoping me from doing the same thing?". Dont misconstrude I'm not at all saying I'm 10/10 the best player in the world and I deserve Chalenjor, but I honestly belive if I can get out of this phobia of ranked I cna significantly advance beyond my skill level.

I think it has to do with the fact that a lot of these people have been playing ranked for a few years now and they have learned to deal with what you are describing.

Im not nervous in the sense of my performance, but i AM nervous about how my team will perform considering 90% of my loses came from what i described above. Hell, I even had a match as a Tristana with a Malphite top and Alistar support against a Diana jg, Ez adc, Fiora top, Trundle support and i forget their mid but we ALMOST won. Then the Ali and Mal went full retard right in their base and started going after their frontline which in turn destroyed me because not only was no one besides me and 1 other person warding, but also because diana would flank us and i was instantly dead. I asked them why they went for the trundle and fiora and they said that they wanted to help me sustain against them.....-__-. I lost faith at that point.

But this is why im done with ranked. With Riot doing that reset and dealing with these teammates, i would get nervous about how the team would perform and its just not worth it to me. When i play with my friends in norms, we have no problem beating silvers and golds and i play well enough for silver 5 at most. But with the way this shit has gone so far, i just cant do it.

You just have to get in there and play; you'll get used to it. For me, it also helped to completely stop playing blind pick and only queue for normal draft. And when I do play ranked, it's usually only up to 3 games, then I quit for the day.

Dig it: the emotional reaction you're having doesn't just spring up, sui generis, from nowhere. It's rooted in a way of thinking about the game and what it means that is stressing you out. Change your thoughts and you will change your feelings.

So basically, uh....remind yourself that it's a video game and it doesn't matter?

Because that's true.

You can also remind yourself that no individual game actually matters that much to your MMR, and MMR is all that really matters when you're trying to rise.

That's also true.

There's basically no rational basis for stressing over a single game of League.
