A problem with the Report system

VivaLaKitten··5 votes·855 views

Why should someone be reported for asking for reports? No new player will know about this, and the only way I learned was from people talking about how it banned them on the forums, and THAT'S because I decided to go on the forums. Riot needs to either make this way more clear or just remove it. Because asking for help in a situation (politely most of the time from what I've seen) is just human nature.

Because Riot has identified it as a toxic behavior. Which IMO isn't wrong. The problem is they are all about not telling anybody about what they're actually punishing people for because then they might know what they're doing wrong and game the system or something and not be toxic! Gasp! So instead they just let them keep being toxic and then punish them and piss them off even more when they wonder what the hell they're being punished for. Then they make a smurf, spend more RP on skins, and keep being toxic jerks. Rinse and repeat.

:/ hope they literally make a Rule's list on the game homepage and not the forum page with a "READ THIS" sign or something, then keep it there forever so everyone can see it surely they can one of their news thingies for something all players can use that will help them and everyone greatly?

It kinda sounds like, you're describing a business that profits off of this kind of... Ohhhhh I see what you did there.

I've heard that 1 report is the same as 9 reports, just reported or not. If that's true, there's really no reason to ask for other people to report, other than to try to tilt someone.

I never heard that before :o

Apparently Lyte said it on his ask.fm, which is unfortunately down now. It is referenced in this thread though: http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/player-behavior-moderation/tvviuURj-multiple-reports-and-other-misconceptions

Do Multiple Reports in a single game count extra?

Multiple reports in a single game match do not increase the weight nor escalate the reported player's punishments in any way.

thanks for showing me this :) but of course the point of this thread is, New players wont know it

Might I also add, that if someone loses connection they could get reported for being afk. That's just not fair either. I hope Riot actually examines whether the player is rage quitting or just lagging.

How would you feel if you were in the middle of a game, your internet just dropped dead, and you come back to find the game over before you could explain what happened. Then you get banned for something you couldn't control.

See it isnt fair to be punished for lag BUT, if you are constantly getting dc'd, crashing and the like then you need to upgrade your computer and internet connection. Players should not have to "remake" because somebody is trying to play on a crappy comp and refuses to fix it. In these situations it is the players fault.

crappy pc has nothing to do with it you can't blame connection failure on someone the internet service provider loses connection, you lose connection because of a storm, your area's power temporarily goes out, your router which has been reliable as of late just dies and doesn't come back up, there are so many ways it isn't the players fault there needs to be a way to not punish people if they just happen to lag out #if a player continuously lags out and still plays pvp then yes it is their fault, #but if they only lag out every so often they don't know if it's coming and it's not their fault.

The frequency that it is happening is the problem and points to your computer/isp (yes your crappy comp effects your connection) You got a "Hey there is a problem so you better fix it" notification and didn't fix your end.

EDIT: had to remove part of this as I thought I was responding in the other comment where he got 5 20 min game bans in 3 weeks

it's not the frequency, it's that Riot should try noticing if they lagged out or just rage quit because the punishment cooldown is a few months and you can lose connection quite a few times during that time period
