The mana regen "nerfs" explained with Math!

Let's say we have a level 6 Janna with a and 793.52 mana and 11.4 base mana regeneration 11.4 mana/5sec 793.52 max mana

  • item 3028 Old mana font: 27.6 mana/5sec New mana font: 25.04 mana/5sec

Now lets say that she is now level 11! Her base current stats are: 13 mana/5sec 1113.52 max mana +item 3028 Old mana font: 30 mana/5sec New mana font: 30.6 mana/5sec

First of all, why Janna? Because she has the most mana at level 18. Okay, but I heard that mana regen was nerfed, like a lot! It was in the early game. ...Then what was the point of this? I'll explain in another formula!

+item 3070 ... for some reason(+500 max mana for simplicities sake) Old mana font: 39 mana/5sec New mana font: 42 mana/5sec

What I'm basically trying to say is that many people do not feel that mana regen buff because Chailice now scales with max mana instead of mana regen and nobody is used to buying mana itself for mana regen.

If I made any mistakes in my math please let me know!

this is honestly why Athene's should probably give Mana

You probably should've used a mage instead of a support since they have different mana regen standards.

So what you're saying is that I see the benefits of chalice if i buy a mana item like RoA and Tear of the Goddess?

Otherwise, i'm better off with Morellonomicon?

Except tear's regen for most of the game was halved if not 1/3. Since early game is where regen matters the most, it's a nerf to midlaners.

TL;DR To reap the full benefits of mana regen, you have to build not one but TWO mana items (a mana regen item and a mana item)! While your opponent in lane (unless also a mage) can move straight to damage. My poor Lux was hit so hard I can't even bear to play her anymore :(

It's a nerf to early game, which is where regen matters most. Lategame, just don't fight multiple teamfights back to back without going to base and mana isn't an issue regardless of what you build >_>
