So when i say "State of Top" I don't mean from a competitive or even balance standpoint, i peaked at low gold 2 seasons ago so nothing i can say really matters in that sense. I mean from a purely casual perspective, how the lane feels to play at a base level.

Toplane feels like the one place in league where counters are hardest, cheese is most prevalent and lanes are least interactive, playing a slow melee into Vayne feels like shit and getting ran down by a Tryndamere who got lucky on the crit roulette is a completely unfair and unfun way to lose lane. Yet these glaring issues just never go away. For as long as i played top has felt like a cheese fest where anything goes and especially as of recent nothing really matters.

On top of that it feels like the only way you are going to make a drastic impact early game is by helping jungle take Herald, you are so far from everything relevant that outside of a Shen ult you cant influence anything.

I don't know, this is a bit of a rant post because of how frustrating top lane is atm. But the thing that annoys me the most is that it feels like nothing is being done to fix it.

They dont give a flying poo about top lane. As long as they get their 1v5 penta right click "outplays" they dont care. This game will never fix it's melee range imbalance.

What do you mean?Playing top as melee vs ranged champs and mages cured my depression.

Nothing is going to make it not a cheese/counterpick lane until they have something to force the other lanes to interact top as much as they do mid and bot, no amount of damage changes, nerfs, buffs, etc will change that. You play top knowing that is how it will work and know that because it is mostly a one vs one lane, it is going to remain a case of counterpicking because it is a one vs one lane.

Top is impactful, but the state of it is shitty. Counters are hardest there. There are some champs that some other champs simply cant do anything against. Riven, darius, fiora, and malphite come to mind as champs that absolutely demolish something they counter with little to no room for counterplay. Then there are other champs that just farm hard like nasus, chogath, trynd and vlad who scale well with their items and who are really hard keep to out of the game or lane for any amount of time because their built in sustain is pretty good., even early when they're supposed to be weaker. What can most top champs do against rumble? And new Morde is just a monster. Yeah you can qss the ult, but the rest of him is good enough to compensate.

Top kind of is a place where anything can go, though. I think that's a good thing. And you do have an impact. Some top laners have way too much impact imo.

Pretty sure literally everyone but support mains are bitching about their roles this season atm. Top is fine as long as you're playing one of the many choices of overtuned champs who synergize way to fkin well with conq. If you feel like you don't have impact as a top laner atm than it is because you have poor macro. Period.
