Placing bronze after doing amazing

Today I finished my 10th placement game. I concluded my placement matches going 8/2 overall, and getting great scores within all of the games. Last season, I finished it out at silver 5 after not really caring. I played 2 in the preseason and won. My peak of last season was silver 2, and I feel like if I tried I could have climbed into silver 1 or even gold. So why is it that after climbing through placements, Im stuck down with the lowest of the low to climb again? Isnt this what placements are made to avoid? I should have been placed at at silver 3 at the very least for the stats I earned. This is infuriating it was a struggle enough to deal with placement players I want to be back up in silver where people are more tolerable and can execute better teamwork. Can someone explain this to me? I cannot fathom why riot has this placement system.

Edit: My friend who is considerably worse than me went 7/3 with poorer scores and still got bronze 4, one measly rank below me. Rito plz. Someone explain the logic behind this if any before I go insane.

Placements for this season are based off of a soft reset to drop you down one tier. So instead of you going down to Bronze 5 since you finished Silver 5, your winning has bumped you up 2 divisions that you won't have to go through.

I finished last Season as Plat 5 and hit Plat 4 during preseason. I got dropped to Gold 5 from going 5/5

So you have to climb out of bronze...big deal lol.

However I will say, at the start of most seasons the placement 'equation' has been off and people traditionally get placed way lower than they should. Was the case with the last two seasons.

people need to stop associating bronze as a bad ranking. its indeed the lowest of the low, but its where the majority of players go.

its just the way logarithmic ranking works, its completely based on winning or losing outcome. someone has to lose, and for someone to be in diamond, 50 more bronze players must be made.

if you think you're better than everyone else you've been now grouped with, then it should be really easy for you to beat them and climb up agian like its no big deal.

but dont feel bad, challenger players got placed in plat 1, think of all the climbing they have to do.
