Zed q bugged at close range?

So I've been noticing if the enemy is right in front of you your q doesn't hit them. Is that normal? When in front of I'm talking about almost touching and the q just goes through without damaging. Just wondering if it suppose to ignore the target after being certain closeness or if it's just me noticing. Any info helps.
