The true reason behind the tank meta/ how to get rid of it
I think it's pretty obvious that our community has had an issue with tanks for quite awhile and I'm here to tell you that our pleads for tank nerfs were for naught. The problem never was the tanks to begin with and let me tell you why !
How many games have you lost because the enemy bot lane gets fed and you just couldn't do ANYTHING to beat them. How many games did you come back into just because your ADC scaled better than theirs even though they lost early hard. If you've been playing this game in the last two seasons, you probably had a lot of them.
Now, what does bot lane getting fed have to do with tanks? Well, everything.
Tanks have been buffed and their items have been buffed over and over just so they could pose a threat to the back line through the tons of shields and heals they get, while bruisers and assassins were considered already fit for the job. What happened is that they buffed ADCs to deal with tanks now while assassins only got nerfs and changes, never buffs, same with bruisers, turning the meta into this trade between tanks and ADCs holding the power.
Buff ADCs to deal with tanks, buff tanks to deal ADCs for longer, buff supports to let the ADC survive, buff tanks to survive even more, in comes ardent censer (at this point the bot lane power creep started fucking the game entirely), in comes bramble vest, in comes reworked Solari & the healing item.
And of course, all this time bruisers have been barely touched or just nerfed constantly while mages aren't allowed to do anything on their lane because they got buffed to deal with the power creep to the point where they just one shot waves and because their lane is so small, they just clear everything instantly by level 6 and the only way to get ahead is to roam bot lane or top lane and of course you're no gonna go top lane cause that guy isn't going to carry your game and there goes mid. Instead of having an opportunity to fight the enemy mid laner, it's either you roam a lot or (even worse right now) you just wave clear and wave clear and wave clear cause if you leave your lane, half your turret is gone.
The jungler either camps bot lane to contest both the drake and two kills and protect two teammates or he loses the game because top holds no objectives that are of any immediate or permanent use and it also only holds a single person that will never contribute as much to the game as the two people bottom so of course the jungler has to go bot lane.
Everything revolves around the bot lane and it's so frustrating cause, to me at least, it's just a huge fuck you to the rest of the players in the game. Most people make the mistake of asking for buffs for bruisers and mid changes but the truth is:
** If we're going to have balance in the game again, we need to scale everything down.**
That's right. tank shields and healing down ADC crits should never hit for more than 700 and should never have the ability to two shot squishies crit should be replaced with something more certain(what if instead of crits we got a text that says every 4 hits you dod double damage and for each 'crit' item it would drop to every 3 hits and every 2 hits and then every hit would 'crit'.) assassin damage down minions need more resistance to AoE until 20 minutes jungler camps need to be harder to kill mid lane mages need to step up to assassins while having a way to fight back an all in and they should be encouraged to also kill their opponents on lane Junglers need to be encouraged to invade and farm more (what about purchasable items that give you vision for your jungle when you kill a camp and an item that gives you adaptive stats when you kill an enemy jungle camp, pushing the junglers into fights among themselves) snowball should be changed so that the person who's 5 0 is way harder to kill but also holds a way bigger reward (say, 10 % damage reduction and some bonus AD permanently but the people who take him down all get full gold(bonuses should also be based on champion, just like their base stats are, making some champions have easier snowballs but less bonus stats while some champions have bigger snowballs))
Let's make it so individual people can carry games easier while taking them down as a team can also turn the game in your favor. Let's make it so people are encouraged to be more aggressive on all types of champions and have them fight for their lanes. Let's make it so every side of the map is just as important as bot lane is right now.
