They Buff Baron and increase minion damage to towers with baron buff

Is this an early April Fool's Joke or is Riot Legit?

It's pretty obvious at this point that Riot doesn't care that people don't like the shorter games. Doesn't matter how many people tell them otherwise.

Remember when they said they'd look into it about a month ago? Yeah, they clearly didn't. Which is sad because of just how transparent that lie was. Very few changes have been made from then until now that have been directed towards the snowballing problem compared to the number of changes added to make the snowballing worse.

I mean, I'm not 100% sure if they're just doing it for LCS, but if they are then maybe the real question they should be asking is what made them popular in the first place?

Oh right, it was all the regular people playing their game. Not just the pro players.

It's twofold:

1.) LC$ games are taking too long because no one does anything but turtle if they're behind and very slowly take objectives if they're ahead.

2.) South Korean Internet Cafes cost money to play in by the hour and players want to get to play 2 full games within each hour. Or something like that.

Riot's stance on game timings is clear. Meddler stated today in his Quick Gameplay Thoughts that they are going to nerf Tristana next PBE cycle, and last week they put Twitch nerfs on the PBE. These following last patch's nerfs to Kog, and two patches after Vayne's nerfs. All of these nerfs could be avoided in they had just increased the price of zeal items. They intend to keep games shorter than ever.

Funny, I didn’t know those were early game objectives that contributed to snowballing. Here I am thinking they are late game game ended objectives.

When will Riot realise that adding more snowballing will not make pro matches faster but only the exact opposite? Why, because more and more are on the stake, because you just made it that way.

So this literally achieves nothing but negatives. If you care about general play, this kind of change won't do because it ruins the game pacing; if you only care about """LC$BIGPLAYZ""", then this kind of change won't do either because it only makes them turtle more.

So I have to ask, what and who is this change even for? Or is it that Riot you like extreme snowball in general play, but extreme conservative play in pro matches? Is that what you've envision for the game's future? I don't get it.

And they're removing Celestial Body, since it doesn't deal damage... More, it was one of the few "defensive" runes :D

Good job, keep it up! :P

To play devils advocate for a second, the predicted change is this:

Increasing the power of Epic monster buffs so that you really want to contest them if possible. Baron buff at present only scales in power from 20-27 minutes, we'll be changing it to scale all the way up to around 50 minutes, making it much more meaningful later game. Also doing a few other tweaks to it at the same time (making Baron empowered cannon minions more meaningful damage wise, shifting to a more appropriate AD/AP ratio rather than favoring AD etc).

So early and snowbally barons don't make much of a difference at all, only later game barons will be different. The other buff makes sure that the minions get better scaling with ap so that a fed ap carry will have more effect with baron while a fed adc has slightly less.

You can disagree with the baron changes, but it in no way seems to be a snowball advantage.

seems like it's for the lcs so that games aren't a 90 minutes snooze fest

Honestly this is good. This isn't buffing snowballing, it's making the torture of being in a lost game that's still going to take five or so minutes to actually end shorter. If they aren't going to make snowballing less prominent, at least it will be a quicker death.

Baron Buff scales better, longer into the game. Now, it maxes out at 40 mins, instead of the previous 27. If a team is snowballing, heavily, and they can't end the game by 40 minutes, I don't know, they would have to be trolling or something. With the changes, Baron Buff scales better and the minions deal more damage to turrets it becomes better for comebacks. If you can stall the game and steal/secure Baron, you can accomplish more with it.

I made a post about this, but I'm pretty tired about how millions of us are basically fucked over because of how Riot balances for pro games. "It's not exciting to watch for the small percentage of people who actually watch pro games? Better make the game everyone here plays feel worse off so a 5v5 deathball on the big screen can be more exciting." It's super bullshit.

I mean the change would be fine if they also increased barons total HP, total resists, and granted him damage reduction to %hp abilities, the changes to dragon would be fine if it were harder/almost impossible to solo dragon early. They wont do that though so yeah please stop it rito.
