Two week delay from ranked play for new champs

So basically queue for ranked and immediately see the two new champs. So instead of using one ban, two have to be wasted in order to make sure well practiced viable champs are played in a ranked game. Can there be a delay (like maybe a week or two at least) before brand new champs are allowed to be selected for ranked play?
