Dying abilities

I dont understand why some champs abilities wither into thin air when they die and others go through in the event of death. An example is velkoz e vs. xerath q. Xerath's q goes off if cast even if he dies instantly afterward and before the q damage even hits anything. However, velkoz e winds up if he casts it and if he dies before it hits it dissipates into thin fuckin air. Makes no sense to me. There are other examples of this to. The ability was cast and it just disappears wtf is that. it can actually make a pretty huge difference to for example when getting dove under tower and you need that extra bit of cc on someone to trade kills, or obviously to just win close team fights. My question is Why is there no consistency on the matter?? Why not have all abilities disappear into wispy thin air or all abilities get cast in death? Really irritating let me know what you think.

Ahri's W, E and R all fail if she dies, it makes me sad.

I wish as Draven your ult would come back as you died to comfort you in your final hours. :c

Some abilities have channels, even though it could be a fraction of a second in a lot of cases, yasuo q is a good example. As for abilities already cast, beats me. Maybe spaghetti code?

This has been an annoying issue for some time; thresh's hook will hold someone down if he dies during cast, but blitzcrank's doesn't. Lux's lazer fires off even if she dies before casting, but jinx rocket never fires (and still goes on cooldown) if she dies during the cast. I agree these kinds of inconsistencies are getting annoying, and more so from not being addressed what-so-ever.

It depends on the cast if it was still casting in some way when you die then it's cancelled Let's take veigar W for example He casts it fast, it's alive and running from there on, independently of veigars state, the existence of the projectile is done, I notice most top down abilities are like that, most of Ziggs abilities are like that then you have the channeled abilities, let's take an obvious one like Malzahar ulti, it has a long cast, since it's a constant cast, if he dies it stops casting all together A less obvious example would be like Velkoz, most of his abilities have a double cast system, like you said

Then you have the weird ones that "come back" those are the truly inconsistent ones, Ahri, Ekko, Talo, Gnar, some of those still hit coming back even if the host is dead and some don't, why exactly? no idea

I've been killed by a twisted fate pick a card auto about a second after he died. He had no attack speed because ap and low e rankings, so there was a huge delay, but it still hit me for about 500 magic damage and killed me. I mean sure, if its about to hit me as he dies by all means. But if he just started swinging with it and the auto was winding up, No. I've also had it where I killed someone while playing twisted fate during the windup for the auto but before the auto actually hits them.

If the ability is a projectile, assume it's going to disappear unless otherwise stated.

If the ability is instant application, it's going to do it anyways so long as they didn't die before they finished casting - because it's instant.

Xerath's [Q] is an instant AoE spell, but his [E] is a projectile. Guess which disappears after death.
