"Zed is the most healthy assassin in the game"

Wait. You weren't kidding? Infinite split push potential, easiest last hitting in the game, most consistently easy tower dives, insane mobility and a fuck load of damage with little to no cost to Zed at all. If this is an example of a healthy assassin, please NEVER release another "healthy" assassin again.

Apparently he's "balanced" because item 3157 meanwhile people forget that the item active also counters every other champion in the game.. But no Zed is balanced guys... because reasons...

I'm pretty sure Skarner doesn't care in the slightest about zhonya's.

L7xLoTek3 votes

Eh, he does, since he's a sustained damage champ that gains cooldown to his Q from autoattacks, while the Zhonyad champ gets a moment of cooldowns back in safety.

Justaco1 votes

Okay he cares a little bit, but not enough to call a counter. I'm just saying that calling zhonya's a counter to every champion in the game is a huge exaggeration, since anyone who isn't a burst character isn't totally countered by it, and most tanks and bruisers will be able to just pick up where they left off after those couple seconds are over.

I'm not here to say zed is balanced, just this isn't a very good argument.

L7xLoTek1 votes

Certainly, especially since not every champion is AP

He charges a mage, they Zhonya's, the mage's team CC's and beats down the Skarner. Telegraphed initiations make for good Zhonya's opportunities. It's not something I like to see enemy mages get when I'm playing Skarner.

Justaco1 votes

Skarner is kinda tanky, he can handle a couple seconds of beat down. Even if he can't that's an opportunity to either switch to another squishy target, or that just gives his own team an opportunity to fight while their whole team is focusing the tank.

And if for some reason they haven't used their cooldowns yet (as in you went for a flash grab and they panic zhonya) your team gets to enjoy the short 5v4 because in a way they cc'd themselves.

Also you probably aren't running through the entire team to reach them, more likely you're using it to punish someone with poor positioning. Unless you're greedy and build like me.

THERE IS NO ESCAPESkarner item 3284 item 3025 item 3800 item 3709 MUHAHAHAHA

Zed is the healthiest assassin in the game. Mind, you, that is a bit like saying "tallest dwarf". Still, tons of his damage is avoidable and his kit gives much wider windows for reaction than say Talon Leblanc Akali.

I am sad that they didn't mention the excessive amount of safety on his R as a problem. I feel like that is the thing that infuriates people most -- you just can't punish him for making a bad dive.

Same with Lee, his constant dive infuriates me.

No they just meant his assassination pattern where high skill levels and good timing can grant very high levels of burst and safety at the same time.

They then talked about how maybe he can do to many things other than assassinating such as split push, tower dive, wave clear, 1v3 low health enemies, etc and that is where they would take from his kit if anywhere. There is a player-made thread going around with this same concept and proposed nerfs that don't hurt his assassination patter, but idk if a Rioter actually read it.

The healthiest assassin in the game should always be MasterYi.

You know you are kind of right, yi is alot more inline of what you expect of an assassin, he goes in does his work, and is stuck in regardless if he failed to kill anything or not, and he is very vulnerable you catch him out he can be screwed unlike never ending wall hoping slowing zed with his short cd's and he kites you across the entire map.

I've been preaching this about Katarina for aloooong time. Has great escape, high damage, hella high damage and wait...SHE'S TOO SAFE. She and Zed are not what assassins should be.

well, in theorie his assasin-patterns are quite healthy compared to other assasins, just some what flawed due numbers and laneing mechanics. If he wouldn't gain so much profit from BotrK and Yomuuns, he would actually need to land Q rather than only AAs, and it would also be somewhat be possible to kite him duering his 3 sec ult, reduceing the total damage by alot. However, with a AA focused build and 20%ms-buff+30%ms-steal, he does not need to do more than rightclick after ult in a 1v1. It also gives him a bit to much dps vs towers, given how good both waveclear and escape are,

I think reduceing his base as and as/lvl would go a long way as it would greatly reduce the efficience of those damn two items on him.

I'm going to clarify this. Zed's capabilities are much too high right now without a doubt. What they're trying to say, or rather, what I believe they're trying to say is that his playstyle is healthy. He's what an assassin should be. Not like akali who jumps right in the middle of combat kills someone, then heals for her entire health bar with overwhelming spellvamp and throws down a bomb. Not like fizz who jumps in the middle of teams then troll poles out without taking any damage. Zed has the capability to kill almost any champion. However, he cannot do any more than that. He takes out the squishy and the proceeds to split push. He's not a hyper-carry and I don't feel that assassins should be hyper carries. They have a specific role in killing the squishy/fed champion and depending on their capabilities, poke in teamfights or splitpush. Zed excels at these roles. The problem is that he does them all too well and with too much safety. If a champion is truly toxic and unhealthy for a game it'd need more than just some number and stat changes. It'd need a full on rework. However Zed's playstyle is a perfect example for what the actual assassins should be like. Or rather what he does should be reflected on newer assassins. Slay the one enemy that needs killing and then focus on pressuring the enemies weak spots by splitpushing and applying map pressure.

healthy as in he doesnt delete ppl in .5 seconds like leblanc or talon unless hes super duper fed. healthy as in qss removes his ult completely. healthy as in hes not a mindless combo champ like talon or akali and is actually hard to play against competent opponents. healthy as in his burst isnt instant in teamfights so is usually forced to splitpush

COWmanLord2 votes

Ya know they did specifically bring up how his split pushing is ridiculous and hint at future zed nerfs, so you really can' complain that much. This is what they say

"That doesn't mean there aren't problems - while Zed's ability to delete squishies with a button press and some smooth moves is going to remain intact, he has so many other additional strengths that seem to push him over the edge. Given his amazing AD stats and his waveclear, should Zed be a top-tier tower-taker? Should he have amazing clean-up when his resources are depleted?"

If we are honest zed hasn't had nearly as many problems some other assassins have had. Remember old Kassadin? The guy who most nearly achieved being literally banned from every single game played? Its not like he doesn't have counter play his ult does take a period of time to do its damage so you have time for healing, abilities that give you invincibility, or stealthing away to avoid some of his other damage. The main issue is how the combination of wave clear, high ad, high attackspeed builds, and a solid escape let you splitpush like a freaking madman while having all the damage any other assassin does. That is also what riot is trying to fix. There is no need to take offense at any statement riot makes.

Link to original comment plz. If this is legit wtf Riot. Zed is horrible.

he is a healthy assasin but riot doesnt like him doing non assasin stuff like splitpushing and thats where they will aim their nerfs at

reading aint so bad man

Meanwhile Lux is COMPLETELY RENDERED USELESS once they zhonya, because only the snare (or not even the snare if they zhonya before it, but it won't waste her e and ult) Oh look, i got snared. I'll just zhonya her e and ult. Meanwhile zed can two shot you with his Q and E along with his autos that do a shit load of damage even before the mark pops

#bufflux since apparently Zed is "healthy" because he's "countered" by zhonyas

Akesgeroth1 votes

Well, he's certainly the most fed.

Tentacle Love1 votes

Zed's the healthiest assassin in the game because he put poison in the other assassins' ramen noodles.

MAZZ1M01 votes

If you are immobile like Annie, Veigar, Swain, etc. Zed has 0 counterplay! There's no way to beat someone who can safely towerdive you at will as well as zone you with clones of himself. You'd have to 100-0 him and you can't do that at early levels. wtf Riot. Wtf.

Direwolfiez1 votes

Eh, I'd argue that Annie has the best chance against him due to her massive burst and stun, but yeah, he stomps on immobile mages, usually regardless of how fed they are.

As an assassin he is healthy, as a champion i don't think he is. I think a lot of people over look how insanely important and powerful his passive is for last hitting and how much of a difference it makes to basically never miss a CS.

The argument for stopping a zed from farming would be to poke him at range while he goes to last hit, but the window for him to get the kill is so large, and he has such strong poke himself, that a lot of times he can trade effectively and still get the CS. Though let's assume he doesn't trade effectively and misses you, he is still AD and doesn't use mana, so he can easily spend his gold that he traded for on health potions and early lifesteal (the strongest heal in the game right now) to continue to exchange effectively even if he fails to poke you.

Also i think one of the best counters to assassins is silence, but riot effectively stripped that from the game on a lot of champions, to the point that i believe all of them are skill shots now.
