Azir ''re-work''

For the people who saw the new Azir rework, I have a question. People are saying it is a huge re-work...? range and ap scaling nerfs on all of his abiliet except for his ult. He is currently a not so popular pick and even after that give him nerfs and call it a re-work. Win rates of a low elo player and a high elo player are diffrent only because the second one has knowledge of his combos. He is a bad pick, can't contribute to teams as much as other picks. When I heard he is getting a re-work I was so glad, I currently don't play him as much, because of said reasons but I like the champion. Xin xhao who is played a lot more than Azir, especially in low elo is getting a real ''ability re-work''. I mean like Azir didn't even get changes to his icons for the abilites. I hope these changes will be reverted because it's a obvious nerf to all of his aspects where he was good, If anybody knows how the hell is this ''re-work'' going to make Azir a good pick again, If you really have to do this, buff his defensive stats and damage while continuing the range nerfs (even though that's what made him a skill champ). I think the re-work is a mistake and something has to be changed. item 3070 Azir

DId you play this game when he was released? If not: he was incredibly strong and basically was completely ruling the mid lane in the past, as long as he was in skilled hands.

Riot is currently working with a system they call "power budget". Basically everything in the kit of the champion is consuming from this power budget and a champion shouldn't surpass a specific threshold. This is relevant, since Azir was designed in the time before Riot used this system.

Azir and Kalista were designed simply with the question "what would be cool for this champion to have?". And that led to kits, which don't have meaningful downsides.

Azir had his power spread all over the place. He had the range of an artillery mage. The damage of a dps mage. The mobility of a long range diver. The initiation potential of a Vanguard with his famous Shurima shuffle. The zoning power of a control mage.

He simply had too much going for him and that is the reason why he is weak right now. Because if RIot allowed him to be strong with his current kit, he would be the absolute number 1 on the rift again without any competition.

The rework is aiming at giving his kit weaknesses for the enemy to exploit. They want his unique playstyle, which unites the strengths of pretty too many classes, to the playstyle of a battlemage. Able to deal magic dps at mid range, but not as vulnerable to dives like an artillery mage, thanks to his zoning, shield and dash.

But it means that he can get outranged and poked from far away. Exploitable weakness. It kinda is a nerf, since they are injecting weakness in him. But in the long run, it is better. Because these changes are shifting him in a balancable state. They can buff him to a viable mid laner again, without making him completely overbearing like in the past. If he turns out too weak, he will get buffs. That is a privilege current Azir doesn't have and he has to make sacrifices for it.

it solved none of his issues, made nothing new to play around, and all around made him weaker in lane.

his dash is slower, thats the biggest offense.
