Bring us our beloved Vel'Koz back

TheDarkPhobos··6 votes·498 views

We, the community of devoted Vel'Koz fanatics, make a plea to the riot developers. The recent changes have had a catastrophic effect on our Squid God. We dedicated our lives to master the delicate intricacies behind the tentacular abilities. We understand that you meant good with the Vel'koz changes, but they just destroyed our only reason to live. We stopped eating, sleeping, even enjoying life and are mourning the death of our beloved champion. We don't want a tank buster or another silly scaling AP mid laner. We just want the unique identity our champion had before. We will lie, beg, cheat, bribe until the organic deconstruction master is returned to his former glory.

Please Give us our champion back. You robbed us of our Raison de Vivre.

I actually love the new VELKOZ more than the old.

yeah we got that but the other 95% of vel players hate it

That's a bit biased. Typically players who dislike something come here to communicate with riot so they can change something. Most players who like something don't need to communicate with riot so they don't say their positive opinions here.

I have browsed through reddit pages checked almost all the forum posts here recently and you are the 1 of the 2 Vel'koz players i can recall that like the changes. And the Vel'koz reddit pages are filled with actually active Vel'koz fanatics not just salty players. I know Vel'koz players in "real life" as well and a big majority of these people( not just the salty boards posts) seem to dislike the changes. I swear the only Vel'koz players that liked the changes were the two or three of you i saw here. No other place have i encountered anyone who approves of the nerfs.

Wait i can recall one more guy on reddit i the middle of complaint posts that was happy with the changes.

Post has nothing useful in it.

He seems nearly identical.

How about being more specific as to what and why instead if garbage posts with no info.

His ultimate was nerfed in that it no longer deals his passive's damage among its own ticks.

That's the only thing I'd consider a real nerf in his update. His W and E lost a bit of their AP ratios, but those ratios just went to his passive instead, so landing E->W for the passive proc should deal equal or more damage than before.

It's mainly the ultimate that has Vel'Koz players bothered. If they return his ult to his old functionality, though, then they'd have to remove the AP scaling from his passive (or tone it down significantly, 40% AP is a decent chunk considering it's true damage) because it'd likely be too strong combined.

What if they greatly increased the speed in which you could move it during the ult.

Think that might add a little more oomph back into it?

The issue is the missing chunk of true damage from hitting a non-Researched target.

Previously, his ult would essentially deal 85 extra true damage at level 6 from getting a passive proc during it, or 170 damage if you managed two procs.

It noticeably packs less punch without that damage, is what people are saying. (Ironically, his ult got buffed in every other regard. Its base damage and scaling were both increased, and its cooldown was lowered.)

I'm just annoyed his bases took just enough a hit that a rank 3 W + E at level 5 doesn't 1 shot caster creeps even at first. Especially since at level 5 rank 3 I pivot and max Q by 10. So I'm supposed to level W even more????????? I thought that was the opposite of what was wanted.

You mean scalings, not bases.

Besides losing 2 points of base damage per level on his passive, literally none of Vel's base damages got nerfed. (5 AP per level will compensate for the lost base damage, so at level 5 having 25 AP would even it out. 3 AP quints and a Doran's Ring is 30 AP, so...)

In fact, Vel'Koz's base ability damages haven't changed at all since his release, up until this patch which buffed the base damage on his ult at ranks 2 and 3.

Apply the passive first and his ult is 100% better.

on one ennemy... great. we all know how to apply it thats not the issue here

lightdragoon881 votes

You must really suck with vel'koz if you only apply the passive on 1 person.

With his short e range it's not too hard to position for the enemy team against your combos. Either they can bait out a move that gets you too close so they can quickly focus you or stay far enough for you to hit 1 or 2 guys. I fthey are not completely stupid they wont allow you to freely stack your passive on them with q or w. In kiting scenarios where they group up more closely it's a doable thing to pull off a full combo on 3 guys even but in teamfights you have a much smaller variety of choices.
