Smurfing and Toxicity
So I'm going to start off by saying that the two are both tied together, and aren't. I've met totally awesome, extremely talented smurfing players who are legitimately just doing the "how quick can I rise". For example, before we broke up, my ex got into league very recently. As he learned, he happened to have ran into some smurf players just starting out and they had some of the most respectable interactions i've seen in the game in a long time. They taught him pieces I would have never been able to teach him, simply because I'm only B1-S3 range.
Of course, we all know about toxicity. The players that instantly call someone a loser or mentioning that they should kill themselves for what they think, is a bad play. My ELO is full of it as it is, but when you see a smurf player - for some reason it's definitely different.
Now, I'm narrowing down to the toxicity of the smurf players doing the "rise as quickly as you can" in rank. My most recent example is, during pick phase - our ADC was uncomfortable being ADC (Autofilled I'm assuming). This smurf player, gladly accepted it. Of course because of this, they didn't have a champ pre-selected and all that. I'm a support main (at least my best role) compared to top and ADC. My pick as supp was banned by the adc - just trolling me. I pick a different supp already knowing this is going to be a shitty time, even though the outcomes are going to be phenomenal.
It was a steam roll. This ADC (Draven) went 14-2-6 in a 26 minute game (everyone had low cs for that length. My supp (Soraka) went 3-3-18 - even S-. However during the game, he just called out that it was a troll pick, doing everything he could just to tilt our team.
Honestly, I think he wanted to see how much he could carry.
Normally I'd be happy with a win like that - other team definitely seemed to have fun which is good, and our team did for the most part also (I muted the Draven after his first comment about troll pick). In the result screen, just mentions i'm a trash support. Didn't phase me - other teammates complimented me.
So - we can say problem resolved right? I used the tools implemented in the game to help keep the toxicity in check right? I could, due to other statements he made and the intentional ban on my preselect, do my reporting. All's well right?
I shrug it off as this is probably the only way that he can feel important in life. But... after the next however many games i've played since then, i'm now kinda slighted and finding myself a bit tilted to the inaccurate comment. The regular toxicity of the ELO is now getting to me - so I'll take my own advice, and definitely take a break.
Honestly - There needs to be some sort of troll reporting for those that just want to ruin the game for others. Rito is smart enough, they can figure out how to monitor the false reportings of bad plays vs the legit ones. Also, I totally will respect every rank level for their ability. Iron - many issues keep players their. Bronze - probably honing a particular skill - and not having that skill is often holding them back. Silver - They think they are plat but in reality, just decent players compared to the mechanical prowess of Gold+.
Anyway, entire rant sums up to 1. Troll reporting option, 2. Honor tied to rank. Poor attitudes should not be rewarded with prestige. If they can't show a decent etiquette... I dunno. I can bring up the whole Tyler1 attitude being glorified when the reversal of the ban was just a shitty idea and gives people an impression of what's okay.
Rant over.
