The Bronze Climb

So, In season 3, 4 and 5 I was dragged in to ranked by some of my friends. Didn't really know what the hell I was doing, and as you can probably guess, my MMR tanked. Pre-Season 6, I thought "I want one of those pretty boarders!!"

My season 5 "op.gg" MMR (not accurate I know) was 834. So obviously I got placed in B5 even after winning 8 out of my 10 placements. No big deal, but it scared the hell out of me, people always told me "you will get stuck in B5 for a long time, its hell down there." So I avoided playing ranked for a few days.

I decided to play a few ranked matches after that short break. Got to B4 that day, only losing a few of my games. The last B5 loss i had was the first game of my series. The jungle wanted to support, but I said id rather not jungle coughI FUCKING SUCK AS JUNGLEcough. Well I did not know they were a 4 man pre-made and they thought it would be funny to tell me to go in and they all flash away =u=. One of them apologized in the post game chat though, he threw his series that game.

Once I hit B4, i got a small losing spree. (Thank you 4v5s. love them so much). But no real biggie, I just stopped playing for a couple weeks. (BnS addict) Started playing again yesterday. Won a couple and lost a couple. Then I noticed something, I was gaining a lot more LP than i was before. My highest gain has been 32, my lowest gain so far was 24 (I think, close enough though).

I just made it to Bronze 3 on this small winning spree of 4 games. Its been an interesting down here in the lower half of bronze though, I'll tell you that.

22 wins/12 losses 65% win rate. "op.gg" MMR is now 1079 - 1099 you know how op.gg is super consistent (yea right)

I have noticed though, In my normal games, i don't have to play Leona as much because I usually get paired with people that pick a tank jungle or top, sometimes both. In ranked bronze, It seems the concept of a tank is non existent, so out of my 34 games, 28 have been with Leona. Most teams also seem to have a full AD comp with a "tank". This is pretty much Leona and Taric Freelo. The ADC down here seem to need a lot of direction, I have to constantly tell mine to attack the enemy ADC when I stun lock them. On top of that, The enemy ADC seem to think Leona is not a tank, and will constantly focus me when I play her and let my ADC kill them with little to no effort.

I wonder what the higher levels of bronze will be like (if there is any difference at all).

Shooting for, at the very least, silver 5 by the end of season 6. Have not found this "Elo Hell" people talk about yet though.

So, I researched a little bit on the LP gains, and it's based on your MMR. 20-25 is average for most. Less than that and you're doing pretty bad, more than that and you're doing pretty well. The highest I've gotten is 30, which is a very nice amount as it makes climbing very easy. You (might) increase your MMR by winning games consecutively thus earning more and more LP per win. The reason I say might is that Riot hasn't officially released any details as to how MMR really works, but many players have pooled their knowledge and have come up with some solid theories. Losing games consecutively seems to lower your MMR drastically causing LP gain drops (once you do win again) of up to about 8 LP. So there's a little insight on how the ranking system works.

As for the play style of upper half Bronze, it is a little more knowledgeable. I climbed from B4 to B1 which is where I am now and people seem to sometimes actually know what their doing. There are a lot less trolls, but toxicity is still a problem. Team comps aren't usually so horrible as to have only AD assassins, but they aren't exactly perfect, either. You'll find some people "trying something new" which is usually gg. Biggest problem I've found is that it can be difficult to maintain an advantage and use it to win once you've got it. People just don't know how to close games later on. What usually solves games past 40 minutes is which team can have worse positioning.

I was Silver 5 last season and I'm hoping to get Gold 5 before season 6 ends.

Anyway, just wanted to share a little insight as to some of the stuff you talked about up there. Ask me any questions you have and I'd be happy to answer them. :)

I feel the fact people don't know how to end them. Maybe they think the longer the game and more kills they get, the faster they will climb.

In Fact one of my losses our jungle could have ended it cause we aced them, but at the cost of four deaths on our side. He said "I want the win to be over kill need my full build"

A few of my friends keep telling me I will hit gold 5 this season, But I'm just aiming for Silver 5 first. Not like I would even be able to queue with them if I made gold anyways.

It's good to keep goals that you feel you can reach. I mean, I'm not opposed to reaching challenger before the season ends, but i'm not exactly expecting it, you know?

Anyway, I could definitely see that misconception with game length and LP gain being correlated causing an issue. However I feel it could also just be because people don't know how to utilize an advantage.

You didn't know what you were doing for three seasons?

You didn't know what you were doing for three seasons?

Not really. I started in season 2 and up until season 5, League never really hit the bulls eye for me. In seasons 2-4, I maybe had 300 combined normal games on this account. Season 5, I went from that maybe 300 to 1323 normal games and 1114 Aram games. So its only in the 5th season that i started to actually even play.
