If you are autofilled, you should at least get a banning position so you have a bit of an advantage.

To the people that said "learn every role or be a detriment to the team durrrhurrr": You do realize one isn't necessarliy going to be a skilled player within a role just because they understand it? I know how to play every role, but I excel at Support and Jungle because I haven't spent loads of time "getting gewd" at CSing in a solo lane; and that's how I like to play.

Being patronized by players that do have a very strong grip on every role in mechanics and knowledge isn't fair to players that casually play League but are still subjected to Autofill.

The major problem with auto fill that not many people seem to address is the small effective champion pools of some players, a lot of players probably own around 30ish champs. A lot of players just buy the cheapest champions to be able to start ranked, thats why ashe is probably the most common adc and warwick/amumu for junglers for new players because theyre 450 ip.

When autofilled, they pick one of these champs without properly even knowing how to play them effectively if even at all regardless if they know how to play the 'role' or not.

then there's the other problem to do with counterpicks and hard match-ups where players dont have good champions or even experience/knowledge on how to play the match-up despite good familiarity with the role they didn't queue up for.

IE ex 1. you're autofilled top lane as a guy that specialises in adc's and owns all adc's with some ranged mages, you go up against a darius. You play quinn top (which is a nightmare for all melee laners) then proceed to get shit on by darius who has better game knowledge and understanding on how to play the matchup in lane.

ex 2. autofilled jungle but only own mages and warwick, proceed to play warwick and get stomped by lee sin styling all over your team pre-6.

Autofill also throws a wrench in the gears of people who don't own enough rune pages, or runes and were thrown a curveball with the no warning autofill system. playing support janna with an attack speed only rune page and full magic pen page as your only options sure is fun.

There's no warning telling you 'MOTHERFUCKER YOU ARE BEING AUTOFILLED TO ADC RIGHT NOW' before you click accept on the queue, all we get is a message saying autofillenabled L0L.

The entire system if you look at it in its entirety, is built to create addicts that play their game to grind IP to buy champions and rune pages with the possibility of an RP purchase to circumvent the painstaking effort of grinding for perceived necessities. Autofill is just part of this grand scheme.

And to anyone that says 'well you shouldnt even start ranked until you've played 1000 normal games or own at least 5 champs for each role' STFU, grinding normal games, ARAMS, bot games is boring and shit

I don't even understand why everyone has singled out "autofill support" from this video. It's not just about that. Watch the entire fucking video and then comment. It's about the entire autofill "FEATURE" not working as intended. It's about how it makes queue times longer instead of shorter. It's about how it makes people lose games even before the game is started. Can you guys not watch more than two minutes into a video? You all have the attention span of a fucking water hydrant.

I completely agree that autofill supports creates a total clown fiesta. In my placement games I had supports that didn't ult once in 20 minutes, despite me dying 3 times. I also had supports that clearly didn't understand the dynamics of 2v2 in bot lane. It's very annoying as an adc to get supports that just get caught over and over by hooks and feed, its also bad for the other teammates as well because it is often autofill RNG that determines whether bot lane wins or loses lane.

I can confirm as a support main that i have no autofill protection so i will always get thrown into random roles that aren't support which sucks for me :(

I'm not a strong main of mid and adc. I always played support because nobody liked it, top and jungle are my 2nd roles.

I like the way Riot and Community blame players that are forced to play support and blame the fact that 90% of the player dislike playing support, instead of admitting that Riot's idea of support role isn't funny or enjoyable for most players and maybe they should change it...

Nop, system is perfect is everyone that's wrong..

Keep going Rito, fly you little stupid bird

Instead of constantly complaining about autofill supports I don't get why people don't just play support themselves. Especially with all of the complaining about the current support items that increase a support's impact during team fights. Learn how to play support well then kick the auto-filled support's ass in bot and win the game. I can't believe that people aren't practicing and following the support meta especially when there's a chance that they or someone else on their team will get that role.

Complaints about autofill fall into two categories:

"I am a toxic player who doesn't deserve to play this game": People who refuse to learn all roles to keep the queue moving. People who would rather dodge, threaten to int, or have the queue make everyone but support players wait for 20+ minutes for a game instead of just filling less than one game out of every 5.

"I want to enable toxic behavior and deal with toxic players who don't deserve to play this game": People who will bend over backwards to make someone happy if they use the magic words "mid or feed" and are upset that they have to deal with this. They think it is Riot's fault that toxic players are acting like douchebags and Riot should also bend over backwards to keep crybabies from throwing tantrums instead of teaching players that the game can't succeed in the long run when that kind of behavior is rewarded and supported.

If you don't have an understanding on how all 5 roles work than you are a bad player, because you won't know what your teammates should be doing or what they are doing. This doesn't mean you have to main all 5 roles but gain a basic understanding of all 5. Also, there is absolutely nothing wrong with asking your team if they want to take support. For example, if someone got support and asked me for my role I would take it because I know I can play support well. In a game of 5 people there is a very low likelihood that all 5 are god awful at the same role. In the video he said people can take you hostage in champ select. This is not because of auto fill, if said Ekko got top lane (he said he only played Ekko mid) he probably would do the same thing, so it is not auto fill's fault at all.

If you get Auto-Filled into a role you can't play and no one will switch with you: DODGE. It is on you to dodge, it is 100% your fault you can't play that role. If you don't like a role, you need to be aware it is possible to be auto-filled into that role. Go into it with the thought "if no one switches ill just dodge and save us all some LP". Don't troll, don't rage, don't be a dick, it isn't our fault you got auto-filled but it is your fault you can't play that role.

If I get ADC and no one will switch, I WILL DODGE. I can't play the role well, it is a very important role, and I would rather lose 3 LP than my whole team losing 15-20 LP. It has happened 2 times btw.

If you don't want to learn that role, you need to dodge. No one is going to feel sorry for you if you troll, they will just report you and you will be banned. Why go through that when you can dodge and just lose 3 LP.

Ok, while I certainly do not agree with autofill, FUCKING LEARN HOW TO PLAY FUCCKIGN EVERY FUCKING ROLE. Jesus Christ guys, some of you people are the whiniest bitches I've ever heard of. If you cannot play every role in ~plat or lower, you are a disservice to your team, regardless of you main role. If you aren't familiar with how solo lane dynamics work, good fucking luck ganking top/mid without wasting summoners/donating kills to your enemy. If you don't understand support, good luck ganking bot after walking over very obvious ward spots that you would definitely know about if you've actually played support more than once. I get that there are those fuckers that hold games hostage when they get autofilled, and those people should be instabanned. Done. Gone. Inting or otherwise intentionally hurting the team in ranked should be met with IMMEDIATE time bans, if not permanent bans, on a zero tolerance basis. But to the rest of you, just learn other roles and accept the fact that a real player will have an understanding of the ENTIRE game, not just a few champs in a specific role.

TL;DR

"All that effort to swap people around and he ended up going zero and two in lane a few minutes into the game and my support... he didn't feel like he was all that adept at playing support"... "it didn't end up making much difference"
