I'd say there is no end in sight yet.
It's designed as a sport. So since Football, Soccer, Baseball, and Basketball are still going I don't really see it falling apart.
WoW is still around...why would this die in a couple of years? For all we know, this could be the next baseball...we are in a digital world now.
I've probably been playing online games longer then a lot of the readers here have been alive.
Ultima online, 1997, 21 years old still active I believe. (Played this till '99)
EverQuest, 1999, 19 years old, (invested 7 years into this game)
EverQuest II, 2004, 14 years old (played this for about 6 years)
Everyone of these games at one time or another were the top of the mountain for online games, over time, player bases shrunk, servers got consolidated, but there was still a core group of players that were active.
Games will last as long as they generate a profit, new features just don't come as fast.
You ask how long this game will last? It could be 10-15 years, some people invest $100's to $1000's in the game, as long as they still enjoy the game, it is hard to uninstall permanently.
Depends on the meta of the gaming industry Remember when there were 500 minecraft clones? Followed with 500 early access zombie survival games? Followed with 500 MOBAS?
Im going to say it like this: If Riot keeps letting lanes and champions in the dust to favor others eventually enough people will quit, so the guys playing other lanes are FORCED to play that shitty ass lane and start quitting too if it happens too much Eventually some moba will rise up in popularity which doesn't have that and people would rather enjoy 100% of their games than 60%, so they quit League entirely to play that other moba
And if the gaming industry is still on the moba meta then this will happen sooner.
Only on NA. But yeah a couple years then NA will dwindle down. China and Korea will keep it alive though.
Soon if they don't fix this hot garbage of a season. Just seems to be going downhill in terms of fun every time they update something. Things that should be nerfed don't get nerfed, things that don't need buffs, gets buffed. Forced to play a specific set of meta champs if you really want to win / climb, otherwise you're just setting yourself up for failure. Shit just gets old, seems like an endless cycle. This game feels more like a "noob" friendly game where anyone can pick it up and play well now. No more tactics and very little macros are involved anymore. At this point, I honestly feel like there was more of a thought process and tactical game play when I played Gears of War 2.
Played Warcraft 3 mods that had mobas so i've been playing the moba genre ever since i was a small small boy. 1st moba ever created was Humans vs Orcs even b4 dota im sure people still play them on wc3 multiplayer if online works still.
Been playing league ever since the start maybe took 1-2 years off here and there but all i did for like 6 seasons was play normal 3's.(singed)(ALLDAY) I Have been grinding this game out prob well over 4000 hours over a course of 8-10 years. I find no reason to stop playing. These types of games require in depth strategy as well as in depth micro and macro management in order to fend off higher ranked opponents even when playing normal you run across those beastly challengers once in a while so you try hard and sometimes come out on top. That feeling is addicting to just never play ranked and beat high tier players.Cause most of the time people boost themselves then they start sayinng bahjajaja your unranked then they get ass slammed in the face lol that's my favorite part!! Idk this game has a lot to it It's not dyin anytime soon. KEEP UP THE WORK RIOT (MAYBE ADD DRAGONS BACK TO TWISTED TREELINE SOMEHOW ) :O MISS THEM xd
