Why Don't Supports Build A Sightstone In Silver?

Rain Smurff··2 votes·1,980 views

I'm learning how to jungle so I normally hop on my smurf and try to learn the basic mechanics of jungling on a lower elo account (Silver) After maybe 5-6 games played, I noticed that supports never build a sightstone? Also, note that this is ranked so I'm assuming people take this even a little bit seriously.

What possess them to have such a mentality? I'm very curious about this topic. This event is so recurring that it baffles me.

I've had a couple hundred games in silver in my last few seasons, and I've never noticed more than a handful of times that a support doesn't build sightstone

I've seen a lot of Supports not get item 3341 / item 3364 , keeping item 3340 instead, but like you I rarely come across a support that doesn't build a item 2049

Because in low elo no one gives a shit even when you ward up every key point, somehow your idiot team mates will run into a 5 vs 1 with a well warded jungle.

At that point, you stop caring about vision and play carry supports like Annie, Zyra and Sona.

i dabble in support some times but one of the reasons i stay away from it is cause my allies rarely seem to want to secure vision and protect it just lets the enemy walk around clearling the vision for free gold and if i defend it ill die cause no one wants to follow it up

hey if i have to depend on others to carry and i need gold fuck the stone ill start buying it when i get to gold

This isn't something I've really noticed. Maybe once or twice I've seen a support not build Sightstone? And I've only played in Silver this season.

Also, most supports in silver do get SS, so I dont think this is accurate.

When I Zilean support I first upgrade my jungle item, then boots, then SS. Some people will complain when you don't rush SS, but my response is "Just buy a pink ward until I get it, you scrub".

and people say elo hell doesnt excist as a person who is always in low silver/ high bronze this is how low elo is played the supp's are mages with less gold and unless i ward (jung main have really loved trackers lately) i dont get any wards and it drives me nuts all i want to do is get better by pushing my self but when the other team has more because they have the duo bot with ward fever

Elo hell doesn't exist, because elo boosters exist. Elo hell can't exist lol.

Its called bad supports. Even if you were trying to go as a carry support, Braum sight stone is the key to victory.

What items do they build instead? Are they trying to carry or is it just negligence? What champs are doing this, carry supports like annie, zyra, morg, sona so on....

The only way this would make sense to me is if a support was getting the kills in lane and trying to do work with it. However a sightstone is still needed and you still need to get your carry in the game. Course in low elo its hard to find a good adc anyways.

When you lose enough games at lower elos, you discover that warding until a certain level just makes the people that you helped get fed get extremely cocky and just go on a feed fest.

Anything that makes sense, doesn't apply to Wood Division.

Knowing where the enemy is, is always valuable. Just because an idiot wanders in there and dies doesn't mean the ward shoudn't have been there. Vision sets traps, breaks spirits and wins games.

Unfortunately due to the fact that it is low elo, that describes most of one's team.

Its at that point where I'd have to get a trackers 90% of the time just to make up for the lack of vision control from the other players. Its very interesting.

I have had some really retarded comments from sups that don't build sightstone in lower elo's recently. One Lux was like "I have vision with my E, I don't need a sightstone". Or others that just respond with even dumber comments. This really does cost that team the game in the end. If this is a real problem that persists, then its almost worth it to ask the Sup in Champ select "are you going to build sightstone first?" And if they say no or start using trolling comments, then dodge.

i build the stone alot i just wish the lower elos understands what it does its not a suppots job to die plating the wards

Did those "supports" happen to play Annie ?

Better question: Why don't all roles buy pink wards in silver?

EndlessSorcerer1 votes

They need teh damages.

Also, many of them don't bother looking at the mini-map anyways.

I always build a sightstone but I'm still having horrible luck.

As you can see by those commenting, your prognosis is a bit skewed to your experience. I was a silver support main season 5. I will more than likely main it again this season. I always buy sightstone. I've watched far too many silver games in seasons 3-6 of people I know. It's a fairly rare occurrence to not see it built.

The ones that didn't I noticed were not support mains but shoved into that position. That is rarer now with dynamic queue.

Eh, I always pick up Sightstone and always use Trackers. I ward so that I can stay alive. Occasionally it helps someone else.

You're either delusional or are lying. Even in low bronze where 95% of people don't even main support, people build sightstones.

"I can just use my trinket!"

"I don't need, it, no one gives a shit about vision anyways."

"I bought it!!" And don't even use it. It's the same thing as not buying one.

"OMG YOU TOOK MY MID OK IM GONNA TROLL"

"I just suck at this game, that's all."

Did I answer your question?
