What's the purpose of ARAM

For those toxic ARAM players out there, let me remind you the purpose of ARAM.

Bored or not feeling like playing normals? Queue other game modes. Play ARAM? You get random champions. Never touch the champion before? Play it out. Have fun and make some fail plays. Learn something new? Discover another suited champion for you? Got a triple with them? Nice.

Someone who mains Ashe might got Zed in ARAM and failed so badly. DON'T YOU DARE INSULT THEM. Not everyone is GOD in every champion here in League. STOP typing "wow noob Katarina you shouldve trade with me" or "wtf how can u not play such an easy champ". Seriously guys that's just rude and childish. They didn't choose to play those champs, and why should you be such a tryhard in a fun game mode like ARAM? It's not like your rank will demote to bronze 5 if you lost 1 ARAM match. If you want to be a tryhard and wanted to win a game so badly, go play ranked and be that way. Don't ruin everyone else's fun time in ARAMs with your insults. Instead of flaming and throw salt and toxic to them, tell them what to build. Tell them the combos. Congratulate them if they succeeded.

And if you guys are too lazy to get your fingers down to a keyboard and type down some advices, just. SHUT. UP.

Sorry for long post, have a great day.

EDIT: Seems like most of your comments stated that "these" people ended up being toxic and refused others' advices. This is a different matter, because then we're talking about the other perspective about this topic, while this post is talking about those who flamed people for being "bad" or new to the champion. I mean, even if they refused your advice and throw toxicity, that doesn't mean that you can bash and flame them, right? I've seen people who got Bard in ARAM and builds random on hit effects, it is indeed very OP and deletes enemies, but at least he still tries to win. If players just build random items and went in 1v5, then that's not toxicity. It's intended feeding or trolling. Different from the purpose of this post.

In my case I even asked my team what item to rush for this specific champion, they all ignored me. Then fine, I'll just follow the recommended build. After failing combos and dying, then they started to flame me for being "noob". Now this is what we're talking about.

Even when you suggest items, things to do in fights, etc, people yell at you for telling them how to play. Most of the players in League are unwilling to take any suggestion from anyone that isn't a pro or a friend. They actually call you toxic for giving suggestions.

Welcome to why people hate the League community. Outside of the rare, yet obvious cases.

My experience is you get yelled at the most when you try to help or give advice, which is what you suggested to do at the end of your post.

I think it's the people who don't know how to play their champion and refuse to listen to advice who are the most toxic in ARAM. Otherwise people are generally quiet, at least in my games.

Can't tell you how many times I've suggested an Ashe to not start Tear of the Goddess; her passive scales with crit items now!.... nope, "stfu, I dont care, muted", gotta stack the mana items with runaan's and tickle people so we can lose the game...

Well sorry if I like to win, even in ARAM?

Traxicus12/23/2015, 11:29:59 PM7 votes

tl;dr don't be rude

Something i wish to add is that if i wanted to trade my Garen for someone else chapion and they decline BUT then reroll the champion that is just pure bullshit. Not to mention when i tell them "Hey Karthus could use Rilay's and Liandry's because the enemy team is so tank and is amaizing with your E, also if you hit a single target with your Q its lot stronger and well if easier if they are slowed" and then Karhus procede to rush Deathcap and Luden's and tell the enemy team how he hates when people belive they are the leaders, he sucked.

How often was i politely trying to help some players with builds in ARAM..

But nope, Gnar with Lichbane 11/10.

And then getting rain of hate & flame.. I've stopped helping people and just report them for trolling if they not only build badly, but also try to lose on purpose.

In the end I report someone almost every game, welp...

Mains Soraka in general Randoms Soraka in ARAM

In all seriousness, yeah don't be toxic towards people in a game mode meant to be for fun. Besides, even if you get your main- if the other team randomed champs that sync very well together and your team got unlucky ... well, most likely enemy team won by luck. It takes skill to overcome that, but skill only takes you so far when luck's on their side. But seriously if I random Soraka my team is very unlikely to lose in ARAM lol.

Q'd up for ARAM

Got Yasuo (never touched him a day in my life, before and after that game)

I Said "i have no fricken clue what i was doing"

"I forgot how to league of leggo"

Team mate says "spam QWER"

Instructions not clear enough

Went 3/19 (#meleechamps)

Still got carried and won with no one flaming me or each other

Fun game was Fun!.

(Too bad i can't say the same for 99% of my other ARAM games)

ARAMs are not meant to be a joke, I have no idea how that BS even started. Ranked and Classics are boring as can be to some folks, and ARAM is the only reason they play. We shouldn't ruin others' fun by intentionally playing terribly.

Some people will ask for help, and we should provide it if asked. That's the community's fault for being self-absorbed. That said, I don't think I've seen anyone ask for help in months though, so you may be an outlier in the LoL world.

To have fun.

There's a balance to be had between treating ARAM less seriously than a regular match and not caring at all. Inherently, ARAMs have a tendency to be imbalanced just because of the random nature of them. It's quite possible that your team is just simply not setup to deal with the enemy team so getting super upset about that does no good. That doesn't mean you just roll over and do nothing though. My biggest anonyance when playing ARAM is when my team has 3+ melee characters (even after rerolls sometimes) and the ranged we have don't have good poke and everyone decides to sit around doing nothing. Like somehow the enemy team is just going to fall over dead when we sit around dodging (unsuccessfully) all their poke. People spend all game waiting for the "perfect moment" to jump on the enemy team with a melee heavy team, but spend so long waiting that by the time they're forced to do something, the team is mostly dead. Intentionally feeding is one thing, but if as a melee champ you spend the whole game waiting around you're contributing nothing.

While I agree with you OP I find myself sometimes running into the other extreme in ARAM. People who just want to dick around and play horribly because they're drunk and the moment you offer the slightest strategic advice they're like "chill bro, just an ARAM." It's not fun when people on your team clearly have no interest winning. I don't mind losing, I mind having 0 chance to win because some jerk thinks trolling his own team is funny.

int8012/23/2015, 10:32:14 PM3 votes

Oh my god. Amen. The reason I started playing ARAM was to enlarge my champion pool.

And really, to those people, goddamn no one cares even if someone feeds because everyone else feeds in ARAM too. People will eventually get better. No one is good at a champ from their first time, and that's also the reason that you don't have to dodge because you didn't get your favorite champion. It's good if you got your main, but hell you can still try out other champs.

I have an idea, RANKED ARAM!

HayRoss12/23/2015, 5:58:57 PM1 votes

There's that one guy who gets Garen and runs around doing less than Taric levels of damage because he refuses to build Black cleaver
