So I've known that a Gangplank rework has been coming up for some time now, but I haven't been able to find anything concrete about what about his kit Riot takes issue with (Personally, I dislike the passive and the E) and what direction they want to push him in. Fighter? Tank? Even a melee AD Carry? I know that Meddler said that his E was probably going to get the axe, but anything else? What directions do you guys want to see Gangplank's kit take?
I kind of want them to rework him into a melee ADC, because, honestly, I'm tired of the Marksman's in every damn game. :P

I remember that the oranges are going to stay and that he will get a global ultimate of some form, although I don't know ow far removed it is from his current one.
The E and the passive are definitely off. I don't know about the Q. Riot has a thing (quite rightly in my opinion) about spammable undodgeable lane harass, so I don't expect it to go unchanged.
I would guess that he would be pushed into more of a fighter-type role as it fits more with his pirate-y goodness but that is just a guess.

GP is fine as he is.
As far as I know, he'll get a completely new E, his W should stay (as will stay the cast-time for it). Plus, Critplank will still be a thing, so it's likely his Q will still crit (dunno if it'll be still point-and-click or skillshot).
My primary hope is that he becomes viable and a little bit more skillful and nice to play. Let's be clear, dealing huge chunks of damage with Q is fun but his kit requires no special interaction except for his R. Post-rework Sion is what I compare him to, where all of his skills are funny and interesting to play.
Hopefully they donèt do anything too bad to my pirate friend. Acting as him in chat is so much fun!
