Season 9 : Baron = Win

Hello everybody,

Don't you find it not fair the fact that baron is the key to win. In my last 3 games, we won several teamfights in early. Then we loose one teamfight in late ( not so late, 25 to 30min) and the enemy team do baron and they win. In addition to that, you can barely win without doing Baron. So the game is related to the baron.

Do you agree ?

I don't really see a problem with Baron being such a huge win condition. The only problem I see is it's too fast to go down. You can have it warded lategame, and they fail to sweep, and as long as your lanes are pushed in to t3 then your team will all be at the base and unable to get there in time.

That's the same issue that i want to bring. You can do one little mistake in late game like a wrong back to base or a death and you loose the game not the same as early where you can do a lot of mistakes and still don't loose.

Baron has always been a big objective, what do you mean?

So it's fair foryou to have a lead and do a little mistake then loose baron then loose the game ? What i'm telling u is 1 mistake in late game > 100 mistake in early game.

if you lost off a single baron push mid-late game, you weren't really as far ahead as you're making it sound.

I think the counter-argument to this is that:

  • is it really 1 mistake in late game? Or many mistakes afterwards in failing to defend the Baron (running in one at a time after they aced you the first time, until they end the game).
  • perhaps if it was 1 mistake, that 1 mistake was bigger than all the early mistakes combined (a bunch of 3 for 2's aren't nearly as big a deal as a single 5 for 0).
  • they made their mistakes when even / slightly behind. You made yours from ahead (harder to make the mistake).

In general, I don't find Baron = game. I've won games against Baron and lost games with it.

If you're ahead and they get Baron, they aren't miraculously ahead. If your team is still stronger, then you should be able to push out lanes before they regroup after Baron. You can then go down mid as 5 - force the fight on your terms.

I think the most common case is this though: You won early because your team had a stronger early game, You failed to win with that lead, Enemy team outscaled and got Baron which catapulted them ahead (they had already caught up and/or passed you, then Baron was a new huge advantage to them), You proceeded to lose big time from that point and blame it on Baron, but in reality you were outscaled.

I'd say most players below gold don't have a clue what team comp will be favored in the late game. In gold-plat it seems that a reasonable portion at least have an idea, but even then many don't realize when their window to win the game is closing (I can't comment above plat).
