New to ranked players, please someone explain to me

Why new to ranked players get put in S3-S1 games??? This has happened constantly this season but the last game I had was absolutely infuriating...

S1 70 LP, get a Nami who legit has never played a ranked game in her life, takes TP, doesn't understand concept of leashing, dies within the first 3 mins, TPs back to lane to die instantly again. Not only that, but she was taking cs from adc within those first 4 mins, which then sends the emo 11 year old into a baby rage, who thens decides running down mid would be the appropriate response until the game ends at 15 mins...

Meanwhile, my top lane akali is playing her 1st ranked game this season, with only playing 20 the season prior, feeds as well. Even if twitch hadn't thrown a tantrum, game was absolutely a lost cause with Nami and akali.

Enemy team was a mix of S1, 2 S2s, S3 and a S4....I understand Silver is low elo, but there is a world of difference between people playing in silver for seasons or hundreds of games, and someone who is legit, 100 percent new to ranked, 99/100 times they will not stand a chance and will only make the game a miserable experience for everyone involved, including themselves...

Well where should we start them then??? Bronze 5, with accelerated mmr increase if they are stomping games and prove they belong at a higher mmr???

I am not sure how to respond.

Being a new player, getting placed in bronze5 may be demoralizing. I realize this isn't a good excuse, they should get over it and play but it is something to consider. Supposedly it is difficult to climb out of bronze5, although I think a lot of it also has to do with MMR.

I guess your solution may be the best overall though. Tried to think of other ways but couldn't.

This is because every player starts with the complete average (1200) MMR, which places them in silver 5 games right off the bat. If they started them in bronze MMR, the players who are actually good might be brought down by teams full of morons. Also, currently, if you win all 10 of your placement matches, you are placed in gold 1 thereabouts for your first placement matches. The reality is that silver 5 is the average of all players in the game. To start them any higher would put too many players where they shouldn't be yet, while starting them lower would do the same in the reverse direction. Even with increased MMR gains for playing well and win streaks (which already exist, by the way), you would still see diamond players leveling smurfs and ending out in silver for their first placements on that account. Which would be a massive detriment to all silver players because now they have a higher chance of dealing with diamond smurfs, even if the chance is low to begin with.

yeah this is fucking annoying as hell and i will never tilt back into silver or troll myself into silver again because of this bullshit -- putting new players in silver 3 like they belong in the top 50% of players when they know jack shit about the game. So many games ruined by this shit. Fuck silver.

You just need to accept the fact that Riot isn't going to do anything about this kind of thing. I came to that conclusion when I started looking at rank matchups after games.

Basically, despite your position being denoted as S5, P4, ect., the game actually works on an ELO method, which means that you will be matched on that rather than being against peers in your actual rank, though apparently this starts to match up at the higher levels. And Riot wonders why their game is a Charlie Foxtrot at lower levels.

I really don't know why they don't just use your Normals MMR as a starting point.

everyone should start at bronze 5 imo yknow it being a ladder and all... but that would cause too much rage i believe

Its... because silver level is very low... so even a new player can have this level tbh. For my first season for exemple my level was same like a mid gold. But i started high silver (II-I can't recall).

The system will place any new player in bronze to silver... u were just unlucky to be matched with her, but sometimes u are the one to be lucky
