This position has been called "the support role" ... but it should be the dueling role.
There is no need to focus on CS, the ADC has that under control, it is just about trying to kill somebody on the other team.
Instead this role has been confused to focus on the ADC. Fixing support begins with changing its name.

People play this game not for the strategy but to kill each other and make them rage.
Supports don't kill, ergo, they're unpopular.
So protecting your ADC and supporting their ass while they farm up so that they'll be a monster lategame isn't good enough? What are tank supports then? Healers?
Duelist just sounds like you should be focused on 1v1ing your opponents and fits top lane far more than the low-gold protector you find in lane with the ADC.
