Since pre-season lunched randomly i would get random dips in fps drops and its only in league of legends . Normally get 150-170 fps it dips to 5 to 30 fps at points for periods of time then goes back up. WOndiring if anyone else got this problem and if you do what can i do to fix this?

Edit: thank for the replies everyone much appreciate it

I saw a few of these reports last week (more than usual), and raised them to a few teams that have the manpower to track them down. I don't have any form of update for you, but it doesn't seem like a small subset of players have been experiencing this, and it doesn't appear to be hardware related. Hoping to know more tomorrow (I'm going to talk to the teams that were investigating).

UPDATE: So as it turns out, the nature of this issue is rather finicky and hard to track down. We're going to be sending out instructions to everyone that playtests daily so that in the event they experience the fps drop, they can just use a command to spit out a performance dump and our engineers can look at the trace file. Given the occurrences of this, I'd expect that we could "hopefully" repro it soon and figure out a fix!

I know Mac users have been having FPS drops for a patch before preseason (7.21?) so, if you have a Mac, this is likely the cause and Riot hasn't made any comments on it after almost 3 weeks.

Try messing around with different settings.

There was a bug a while back that caused massive FPS drops when you'd fill up any non-mana animated resource bar. Spaghetti code man.

I dunno about FPS drops, but I've been having slight sporadic lag spikes lately (only up to 200 I think, normally I'm around 30-40 ping) in my games. Already checked lag report and it's not my provider. Though I'm stuck on Wifi (no possible way to connect my laptop to an ethernet cord), I'm rather close to the router.

I've also experienced some pretty bad frame drops with the new patch.

I just saw post about that kid of issue at reddit. One user wrote "

A year ago I was getting 400fps, now I'm getting 200fps. I don't think it's my machine that is failing as other games still rune fine and my system isn't even overclocked in the slightest.

I'll just copy & my response for him there:

I'm (for example) playing at toaster. Seriously: P2C 2,8 GHz, 2 GB Ram and Geforce 9500 GT. "Earlier earlier" I remember I was playing at ~"medium", and now I must play at "utlra low". But to be honest earlier i had old screen with 1024x1280 resolution. Now I play in full HD. I also have antivirus (Kaspersky Free) and it's working somehow in background... But LoL is still playable for me (but i don't have stable 60 FPS), it's not unplayable, like some people writing & I assume, that they have PC - not a toaster like me. Maybe you can upgrade GPU drivers? Maybe you can upgrade CPU drivers (at least I know that kind of things exist)? Maybe you can upgrade Windows? Maybe you can upgrade other programs which works with LoL (I don't know: Java 8? Microsoft .NET Framework? Microsoft Visual C++?) I'm not saying, that this will help: I'm saying "maybe". Maybe you have some virus/trojan? I don't know - I'm not a specialist. BUT I have all that things patched, scanned, seems clear, I'm even updating my "Ethernet Controller Driver" and... It's not a disaster with my toaster, like some people says... But overall I'll admit - yeah, I also think, that there are probably some things to fix in client/game.

after i disabled shadows completely and put on low performance mode i no longer have FPS drops whatsoever , ekko was the first culprit where him casting ANY spells just took me down from 60fps to 13 lol! a few other champs did the same but i dont know what you did to effects , or how this is even happening when you´ve 0 GPU changes listed ... or did you.

Same here.. CPU: i5 6500K GPU: Radeon rx480

Run the game capped at 140 (or maybe 144? Whichever is on there), max settings.. I haven't paid attention to how much the fps actually drops, but I have been getting some fps drops for seemingly no reason; as far as I remember, none of them occurred during any actual gameplay, just during walking to lane or the like, but it still surprised me- this never EVER happened to me before preseason hit!

im getting them as well, which means i can no longer watch twitch while playing ;-;

savagejen11/29/2017, 4:15:54 AM1 votes

Having the same problem with slightly different specs than you. My ping is great since I have a fiber connection, not seeing any change in ping during the FPS drops. Mine started at the beginning of preseason.

Eternal Phoenix12/7/2018, 6:14:16 AM1 votes

i have a similar problem accept every once in a while i will play lol then the next day the frame rate will go from 100+ to being stuck at 30 frames ive tried anything i could think of and anything the internet said and it still hasnt fixed it self please help

Incognonymous11/12/2017, 6:32:18 PM1 votes

Yep, but way lower specs than yours. I typically play at 30 FPS capped. Every couple of minutes or so it will randomly drop to single-digits for up to a couple seconds. This doesn't appear to be attached to any particular screen effects, it just happens.
