On the option to sell the sack of gold item which you get from Kleptomancy

Okay so first of all, the sack of gold is an item that gives you 20-100 gold randomly when you use it. But you also have the option to sell it which gives you a safe, guaranteed 60 gold. Doesn't that kinda.. Defeat the point of using the item at all? Now, I'm a casual player but if someone was taking this game seriously and had the Kleptomancy keystone, wouldn't they just always sell it? Idk, seems weird to me to have the option to sell it. I suggest lowering the gold that it gives you for selling it to tempt players into opening the actual item or make it completely unable to sell. Or idk, explain to me why selling it is an option at all? I honestly wanna know the reason.

I'm not sure if the gold return is uniform from 20-100, so the expected return isn't necessarily 60.

Even if it is, consider if you're thinking about backing but you'd be 80ish gold from a major item. If you just back and sell it, you're 20 gold short and miss your item (or waste time sitting around). If you use it, maybe you'll get 80+ and be set for your big item. If you're unlocky and get less than 80, you're not significantly worse off than selling it since it doesn't change your back timing or what items you can buy.

Using them as soon as you get them in lane can also help you see if you need to go for that extra wave in the previous scenario before you even decide to back.

ive been playing kleptomancy janna. 4-0 on her so far. the sack of gold item tends to give me 70-100 on average very rarely does it go below 60 so I use it every time. but who knows I could just be lucky.

It's like a gamble. You risk to get 100gold or 20gold. If you don't like the risk, sell it for a guaranteed 60gold.

60 is the "halfway" point.

A 50/50 gamble is actually fantastic compared to most casino's that are heavily favored towards the house.

Also, Kleptomancy is the "Oh god my inventory is full" so using it is encouraged so if you get a situational (oracle's etc) elixir it's not auto-used.

Sack of gold sells for 65, but on average grants 75.

Using it will tend to work out to you earning 10 more gold than selling it.

There is some potential strategy here, but 10 gold is such a minor difference that over the course of a million games you might win one or two more by choosing "correctly", and probably lose just as many by wasting the time it takes to decide. Just use the damn item.

All of these comments make sense. I still think it's too safe for 60 g tho ¯_(ツ)_/¯

gambling to hope for 80 gold because 60 gold would leave you just shy of a big powerspike that you want freeing up inventory space because you have kleptomancy and it's a major inventory hog forcing instant use of the bag if your inventory is already full
