People complain because you can easily get counterpicked by a ranged matchup that also outscales you, and you can't do anything all game. Ranged on their own are not OP picks that destroy every melee, that's why the general WR for them is not high. I bet you anything you want that Darius, for example, doesn't have a high winrate because he beat Quinns and Kennens. It's the melee matchups he destroys in lane that gave him the wins.
This counterpick top meta Riot is actively supporting isn't healthy game design in the slightest imo. Takes the fun out of toplane. Also no I'm not going to say that top lane is the weakest and that it has no carry potential, because I don't believe that. But try playing a champion you like in top lane only to be counterpicked match after match and you will understand the frustration people have.
The removal of klepto also helped keep some ranged champions in a healthy state (remember klepto Kennen, Kayle etc?).

They shouldn't have a monopoly. I don't agree with what people say, but as a toplaner I understand the frustration. I simply wanted to point out how crappy it is to get counterpicked by something that doesn't let you play the game, whether it is melee or ranged.
Also if ranged champs were OP, they would be picked way more often in high elo and pro games.

Bruisers arent OP, but usually when someone is OP in the toplane - he's a bruiser (like Sett now, and Morde before him), no hard feelings tho, you're more reasonble than most people here thats for sure.

applying as many stacks as you can before you die.
No shit the Brand new champion has a high af pick rate it would be higher if people would stop banning it. and then the novelty of it being a new champion that enemies dont know how to face would burn out much faster.
Sett has to be damaged to use his W and its longer cast time than Xerath Q that does far more damage unless you building 4 magic resist items

56% WR and 18% pickrate on his 2nd patch - you realise that's crazy right? no matter how many excuses you give, no other champion in recent release has had these stats and power combined with ease of use. Being new is not an excuse, if anything, being new should mean his WR is gonna be low, but it's the other way around, it's going up constantly.
Aphelios who everyone complained about (which rightfully got him nerfed) was sitting at 50-51% WR since his release with 10% pickrate, and that got him nerfed to his state in this patch (48% WR), dont double standard this situation, Sett is overtuned, his kit might not be broken, but his numbers clearly are.

Actually Ranged champions do indeed destroy almost every melee champion they beat you early and out scale you. But the diffrence is that People picking ranged toplaners destablize their team in this meta only the pros and the top 6% of players are picking tanks in support and jungle In the rest of solo Que Top lane is the only place that is gonna have a stable front liner unless some one picks riven which puts them in the same position as a ranged pick 90% of the time. Ranged champions do indeed dumpster melees and its near impossible to stop as a non assassin melee champion. But it also disrupts the flow of the game everyone learned most people dont know how to deal with not having a front liner engage (although Most of the time they wait too long when the front liner does engage anyway)

Now... What exactly do I go against set? He obviously has a better pull then me for the laning phase. If I miss step even a little to farm a minion, it won't be hard for me to lost half my health at random.

melee bruisers are far from being top tier picks, just look at literally any proplay game where bruisers are never picked and when they are they are instantly countered by jayce, ryze, cass, corki etc etc, where are your stats to show they are so good

But they also can't really all-in him because he's the master of reverse-oneshotting all-ins.
Then there's the whole part about mid game where Sett heavily outperforms them as a teamfight monster.

You're picking virtually all short range adc's. Grab a Quinn/Tristana/Caitlyn and it's a whole different story. If Teemo plays safe pre-6 he also starts dominating Sett with mushrooms.
Sett is really no different than Darius, you get in melee range you die.
Renekton also does well into him since he can burst him and ditch pretty easily as well.
Perhaps Sett's Q is giving him more speed than it should, but his W needs to hit hard and he needs to be sturdy because in teamfights he has zero disengage and his hard CC is worse than Darius's with shorter range.
100% melee champs with zero poke and mobility like him need to hit hard and be durable to be useful after laning phase ends, otherwise you just pick CC tanks like Shen/Maokai/Poppy for currently busted ADC's to do all the work because ADC is back to being overpowered.

The issue is most people don’t understand how to play against him not that he has no counter play. The fact that people who play vayne lose to him is because they can’t play vayne not that sett is uncounterable

His W is a thin skillshot for the true damage.
It also does very, very little damage with no way to amp its damage through raw stats alone. Its only amped by a portion of the grit he expends, which he obtains by the damage he took a few seconds ago. If you poke him, he will never have a large shield and will never do more than 200 damage with his W even if he lands the true damage.

I disagree, since his q is an auto instead of a gigantic aoe shifting power to his q woukd leave his in lane strength the same, which is fine bc his lane strength is pretty fine tbh, but it makes it much harder for him to consistently carry team fights with a 1000 true damage aoe and since that means he has to target and walk up to each target in a teamfight seperately, it makes his weakness of extremely kitable more obvious and significant

There is a reason Sett is only 5% presence in pro play.
They're plenty of counters to Sett. Basically any champ with a Dash that makes you go behind him destroys Sett when played properly. By played properly i mean you wait for Sett to W then you dash behind him during the animation. If Sett misses W you will win every trade with him. Also any of the typically 1 v 1 gods like Jax and Fiora dumpster Sett

Sett's JG clear is insanely good. It's straight up Olaf tier clear. All the high ELO JG streamers think Sett JG is legit. I'd argue it's his best role if it weren't for the fact the meta forces you to play ganking Junglers and Sett ganks are medicore. Although his tower dives are Elise tier.
