It's way harder to rank up in Silver this season
In the past seasons, we started with 1 or 2 divisions lower than the previous season. Like I got to gold V in season 7 and started in season 8 at silver II and claim up to gold V. Now this season, I got reset to silver IV and it feels impossible to rank up with the new LP system. Last season when I'm in silver II, each win is about 23 LP and loss is about 17 LP. This season when I got to silver III, it is 17 LP each win and 18 LP each loss! The losing LP is too much and the gaining LP is not enough to make it feel any less grinding!
There is a theory that if your win/loss ratio is around 50%, the game will think that you belongs to certain LP level. So the more you play in a division, the less LP you will gain and lose. Like when you start at a new division, each win/loss is worth more LP than when you play 20 games in that division. But that suck for people who try hard to get to the next rank. It's feel weird that there is a penalty when you playing too many games.
Then there is another theory that the LP depends on your winning/losing streak. This is also suck this season. I got a loss at top which is my second worst position, and loss another game at support which is my best position. If the loss at support has this losing streak penalty then it defeat the purpose of position rank. Isn't it the loss at the least performing role should count less against you?
Then someone told me that the LP depends on who you play with, like if you lose against a team overall lower rank than you then you would be punish more. Make sense, but I've seen many games where one person could break or win the games by his own. So team rank is somewhat unreliable to justify a person's performance.
What's your experience so far? Do you think Riot should adjust the LP system soon?
