What happened to adc's?

TLDR: Summarized what events Riot may have instituted to shift ADC's to Marksmen and what events changed them from primary carries to secondary damage dealers.

So, I just wanted to talk about the once glorious role of Attack Damage Carry, and what Riot has done over the years to convert them to the Marksman Role. Let's look back a few years ago to when Riot first decided to re-brand their roles and why they chose to call ADC's marksman. So back when Juggernauts first appeared in the meta, Riot had decided to start making sweeping changes occasionally as to stirrup what was becoming a stale repeating meta. Prior to these large changes the meta would generally shift in one of three ways, towards assassins being overpowered, ADC's being overpowered or tanks dominating the meta. And leading up to worlds that year tanks had been in charge for close to a year and a half and thus came the juggernaut changes which lead to one of the most hated times in LOL history. Juggernauts were the embodiment of the problems with the tank meta and amplified multiple times over, they were immobile sure but they each had large amounts of hit points and would consistently out damage the standard carries at the time. So later in the preseason Riot moved to dismantle the juggernaut hold on the meta and try to shift ADC's back into the limelight once more, but do to poor feed back during the preseason Riot initiated massive sweeping nerfs the beginning of the following season. During this period came the re-branding of all roles in league, such as juggernauts & bruisers, burst mages & control mages, and of course Marksmen. Now at this point there wasn't a real change from ADC's and Marksmen, they were the same champs and functioned the same way, but the name change marked the point where Riot decided to fundamentally start phasing the role from being the primary carries of yesteryear to the side damage dealers of today. Over the next few seasons came massive changes that would shift how the game paced, which champions were viable and just how the lane down below played. First came the introduction of elemental dragons which added higher priority to the bottom side of the map which lead to a stronger jungle presence in the bot lane. The new increase in pressure lead to safer picks by most laners both marksmen and supports alike. Then we had the support items first changing, along with the introduction of new items that would increase the influence of shield and heal supports. This was probably the largest of the changes during this period as it lead to a heal support dominated meta and meant laning phases were now determined by the supports opposed to the carries. And during this period we see one small hypocrisy to my criticism, Marksmen were who the supports relied to deal damage and thus the role was more relied on to commit higher damage and often refereed to as "hyper carries". We ended up with protect the Kogmaw comps for a good while until a batch of nerfs disabled this method of play but left the supports in their dominate positions. Which then lead to an awkward phase where the supports were op but the adc's generally just did a little pew-pewing here or there and ultimately weren't super impactful in the laning phase. So instead of helping the role out Riot began enacting changes set way ahead of time into action and seriously started to damper the role more so, they buffed their natural predator the assassins, nerfed their crit items, and gutted alot of early resistances which lead to the midseason of 2018. We now get to look at the role as a secondary damage dealer for the most part and rely on the solo lanes and the jungle to hard carry most games. I feel this was a long term plan to forcefully nuke the viability of ADC's to end the self feeding meta of the past and allow Riot a chance to actively change the game to a way they see as healthy. Though I am not a fan of what has happened to the role I do have to admit some of the changes through this long period were fun and have brought new elements I don't think would have been possible without this long string of events that lead us here.

Please note that most of this is a poorly summarized version of an analysis I have been making for a long period of time I hope to bring a more detailed and better laid out one in the future, but I was bored at 1am and really felt like ranting so here is my babbling crap. Hope you enjoy the read and hope it prompts you the reader to revisit some of the things I attempted to highlight above.

GL too you all and thanks for stopping by!

They became irrelevant because its high damage meta and they get one-shotted while not being able to quickly one-shot someone down because they're supposed to be the constant attack damage.

So in conclusion, every ADC is useless and I would rather have a mage down there in bot lane unless you're playing Draven, Ezreal or Lucian because if you choose anyone else you can't do jackshit.

First of all, I wish you would of chopped up that wall of text, would of made it more enjoyable to read.

Secondly. Tank and ADC metas are all basically the same, because in the end the two are intertwined in who actually wins fights late game. Tanks need ADCs to deal meaningful damage/DPS (Yes I know at points Tanks could 1 shot ADCs, but it still usually came down to team fights) ADCs need tanks to soak damage, engage, and pull aggro, and peel so they can free fire from the backline.

The reason ADCs suck is because Tanks suck, and vise versa. They feed off each other.

Our problem right now is simply damage, and it's to much, or at least two fast.
