Why do players lose LP for someone dcing/afking late game?

So I'm just playing Draven and the team is super ahead, I'm 7-1 and we're pushing mid. We go back after getting a tier 2 turret and our Yasuo dcs and doesn't come back for the last 10 mins and we lose LP for the game. Why? Why should players lose LP for someone dcing?

Not really abuseable if punishment is high enough. I agree with thread starter 100%, its just bs to lose because someone is AFK

It would become abusable if it worked like that. Someone would just "D/C" if it looked like you were going to lose, so you do not loose LP.
