Vel'koz Vs Yasuo, Zed, etc.

So, I've played this game for just over a year now, and ever since I started I have preferred to play as mages. Vel'koz was the closest thing I had to a main, until Aurelion Sol came out. I still love to play Vel'Koz, but my problem is that i can't for the life of me beat Yasuo, Zed, LeBlanc, etc. It doesn't help when that's all i seem to find in mid lane, it feels. So, does anyone have some tips or something as to how i can beat or at least stay safe when fighting these champs?

Against LeBlanc for the love of everything do not panic when she is in your face early game. I used to panic and use my full combo on the wrong spot, but if you wait and use the combo when she jumps back, you'll damage her so badly she won't dare to try that again. If you manage to hit 6 before she does, she is done. And I have found pushing like crazy works too. She is horrible at farming under the turret. Force her to choose between damaging you or taking the farm. Ward well though, you'll open yourself to gangs.

Against zed, rush zhonya, and learn to predict his movement.

Against yasuo... Fuck if I know, I just permaban him. He is the only champ I still struggle against as velkoz.

Leblanc: You have two options here. Either you can push her under turret and go roam, or you can play the trade game with her. Learn the dash distance and as soon as you see her use it, put your E down in her landing zone for a full combo. I actually don't like chasing after where she'll reappear because it often puts you in the minion wave or leaves you too vulnerable for a gank. You'll need to build an item 3001 or item 3027 first to keep yourself from being one shot by her rotation + ignite.

Yasuo: Good luck. I ban him in every game I play. It's less about how good you are and more about how bad he is. Farm with your Q, try to predict dashes for a good E and bait out his Windwall. Hope your Jungler will gank for you.

Zed: Easiest matchup of my life. First item will be a item 3157 of course. If he ults, time your E on yourself for when he reappears. Congrats, his ult was now useless. You can follow up with your combo if you want, or just go back to poking the ever loving shit out of him. If he uses his W to harass you, zone the hell out of him to deny farm until it's back up.

The real struggle bus is when you have to lane against a Diana or Fizz.

It just takes time to learn how to play against them, I used to play mid a lot before I started ranked play, Against LB its best to either play passive and watch her movements, if she looks like shes gonna go in on you, move. Zed, i would recommend getting and early zhonyas. Yas came out after i stopped playing mid, but id go early zhonya.

Vel advantage is wide range and spammable spells. Against champs like the ones you mentioned, the only way is to play very agressive and be good with your skill shots. Yes there is the threat to become easy prey for ganks, or simply get outplayed, but if you let em farm freely, its certain they will dominate you and you can only pray they do mistakes and that your team is reliable.
