The Dark Seal: Price - 400g (sells for 280g) 15 AP (+3-30 with stacks) 25% increased healing from potions. 100 Mana Unique Passive - Kills/Assists give stacks of Glory, with each stack giving 3 AP. Can get up to 10 stacks. Loses 4 stacks upon death.
Both items cost 400g.
Both provide 15 AP initial AP.
Both provide extra Health and Mana to comparable degrees.
So why is The Dark Seal better?
- The Dark Seal offers more overall Health value. 2 regular potions offer 75 more total Health, and biscuits provide even more extra Health).
- The Dark Seal sells for 120g more than Doran's Ring.
- The stacks of AP are a bonus at this point. Even if you don't get any, you aren't losing anything when compared to Doran's ring, and if you do get stacks, you can easily snowball.
I haven't found a single reason as to why I'd choose Doran's Ring over The Dark Seal. It sells for more, gives more, and all for the same cost. The only negative I can think is that it sometimes makes me want to get Mejai's, which is only useful for people who are really ahead and are good at not dying.
