I also remember when riot was a small indie dev with a shitty dota clone that they couldn't possibly induce you to play unless it was free, or before tryn and co decided to cash out with tencent, or when they tried to tell us lowered ip gains was for our benefit, or everything hippalus has ever said period which can really all be summarized as "will this make us more money? no? then we're not doing it fuck you instead i'm gonna increase champ ip costs lower ip gains and introduce paid rng garbage to really milk the whales fuck you we're for the community".

Annual -30% sale on Tier 3 runes during pre-season? That's gone too. Meanwhile, every event has turned into a money grab.
As far as I'm concerned, Rito Gems died when Tencent took over. But their increased size as a company lead to the death of "a game for gamers, by gamers" long before that. And now they're so big, they can easily afford to not care about their players anymore. Still not EA levels, but getting there patch by patch.

We instead get Party IP weekends. The ICe regions recently had theirs for their All Stars team victory.
I have never seen these legendary double IP weekends. Ever. Been playing for a long time too.
It's not like they did it every week. It's something special, hence "rare".

Because they added bonus IP methods like Flex queue.
Regardless, I have nearly 400k IP just sitting there..... if you play, you will eventually have everything.
There should be an ip incentive for sitting down and playing a lot of games like 3 at least a day. Doing that two or three times a week should be an alternative to doing the daily win bonus every day. Because the daily win bonus is the only actual decent bonus you can get normally. Doing a ten minute bot game everyday shouldn't be the best ip source.
It would also reward people with different kinds of schedules/ playing habits.
But I guess it would encourage botting..?
